Celebrating the Eve of Christ's Birth!



So many things at Christmas are reminders of Jesus Christ and His Birth!
Many homes put up a TREE at Christmas - this reminds us that Jesus
came to die on a Tree for us. He died on a wooden cross in our place so that we
could have the chance to be forgiven and make it to Heaven.

We place a STAR at the top of the Tree. It's a reminder of the
Star that appeared to the Wise Men to lead them to find the young child.

We put GIFTS under the Tree. This is a reminder of the Gifts that
were given by the Wise Men to the young Savior - Gold, Frankincense, and
Myrrh. The Gifts are also a reminder that Jesus was God's Gift to the World.
(John 3:16-17)

Sometimes you see an ANGEL on the top of the Tree or on the
Tree as decorations. These are reminders of the Angels that appeared to Mary
and Joseph, the parents of Jesus. The Angels brought messages from God.
These are also reminders of the Angels that appeared to the Shepherds. The
Angels told the Shepherds of the new born King in Bethlehem.

Many times at Christmas you see CANDY CANES,
traditionally Red and White striped ones. The hooked shape remind us of the
Shepherd's staff. Shepherds traveled to see the Baby Jesus when He was born.
We are also reminded that Jesus is the Great Shepherd and those who follow Him
are His flock. Because Jesus shed His blood on the cross for our sins, we can be
forgiven and our hearts can become pure again ... washed white as snow. These
are represented in the RED and WHITE colors of the Candy Cane.

And the one thing you can find everywhere around Christ-
mas time is LIGHTS! We are reminded that Jesus is the Light of the World.
(John 8:12) Jesus says that whoever follows Him will not walk in darkness, but
will have the Light of life. Also, we are called to be the Light to others around us.

Once you realize what many of these things represent, you'll never look at
Christmas decorations the same again! Christmas truely is a celebration of Christ!
