Intro
I'll keep it short and simple, a guide for getting passive buffs to increase your skill speed gain
-Faster leveling
The 1st Standing Stones
Once you've completed the game intro, and said goodbye to Hadvar or Ralof go straight forward down the parth, (as seen in the picture), there you will find 3 standing stones:

Each one of these will give you 20% faster skill leveling in a certian category,
Stealth, Strenght or Magic, It's up to you to pick one for now depending on what you wanna play (You can change it every 24 ingame hours)

-The effect is permanent untill you switch it for another standing stone.

Skills benefit categories:

-The Thief = Alchemy, Archery, Lockpicking, Light Armor, Sneak, Speech, Pickpocket.
(Green background in skill menu)

-The Warrior = Heavy Armor, One-Handed, Two-Handed, Smithing, Block.
(Red-Oragne background in skill menu)

-The Mage = Restoration, Illusion, Conjuration, Alteration, Enchanting, Destruction.

(Blue background in skill menu)

(Press TAB and then UP^ or W to see skills, press TAB again to exit)
Wham Bam Thank You Ma'am
Get Married:

You can get a temporary buff called Lovers Comfort that gives 15% skill speed increase for 8 ingame hours, you need to:

Get an Amulet of Mara:
Go to Riften, Temple of Mara, find NPC Maramal and talk to him, buy an Amulet of Mara for 200 Gold

Next, find a spouse (waifu-husbando)
2 simple ways of doing this:

Shorter way:

Go to the city of Solitude, go to Radiant Raiment shop (clothes shop) talk to Tarrie, she will call you out for your outfit (with good reason!) and give you a quest to show up at the Blue Palace (Castle Of Solitude) dressed up in their classy outfit and talk to the Jarl of Solitude. This quest is pretty simple and completed within several minutes. Tarrie will now like you enough to want to marry you (make sure you have the Amulet of Mara equipted), arrange the marrige with Maramal in Riften and get it done ;)

You can now sleep in the Radiant Raiment shop and get Lovers Comfort.

(Radiant Raiment Shop, Solitude clothes shop)

Longer way:

Lydia, your Whiterun Housecarl, you need to do quest Bleak Falls Barrow and Dragon Rising, buy a house in Whiterun for 5000 Gold (possible only after you complete the two quests mentioned above, might take a while to do the quests and get the money). Takes a bit of griding.

(Breezehome, player home in Whiterun)

Note that you can marry anyone else you want, I just gave these as quick examples.

Once you are married sleeping in a bed where your spouse is will give you a buff called Lovers Comfort (15% skill speed increase)
(Breezehome bed if Lydia or Radiant Raiment bed if Tarrie)

This effect will last 8 ingame hours.
The Aetherial Crown
Get the item: Aetherial Crown

Go to Arkngthamz (dwemer ruin) and start the quest Lost to the Ages, it's a bit of a lengtly quest, having to explore a few dwarven ruins and geathering several shards, make sure you are strong enough or that you have a follower with you in order to complete the quest without problems.

The guide for the quest can be found here[elderscrolls.wikia.com]

Make the Aetherial Crown item, all the necessary ingredients can be found in the room where the forge is.

Wearing it will allow you to have two standing stone abiliies at the same time.
The 2nd Standing Stone
Find the Lovers Stone

Having this stone active will give you a 15% speed increase for all skills, it's located near Markarth as seen in the picture.

Make sure you have the Aetherial Crown equipted when using the stone, as this will be "saved" into the crown. Unequipting the crown after you used the Lovers stone will remove the effect, but just by equipting it again you will gain the buff back. This will be important later.

The Combo
Doing the right order:

Now we have the 3 basic buffs at our disposal, the order you should do it is:

1. Have one of the primary stones active (Warrior, Thief or Mage depending on what skill you level).
2. Have the Aetherial Crown with the Lovers Stone saved in it.
3. Have a spouse and a house to sleep in.
4. Unequipt the crown
5. Sleep with your spouse
6. Equipt the crown again

Sleeping with the Lovers Stone active will not give you Lovers Comfort from sleeping with your spouse, this is why you need to re-equipt the crown.

This will give you a combined 50% skill speed increase bonus for the certian category you wich to level and 30% for the rest.

Conclusion
You can now level skills much more faster, it's very effective when doing Alchemy, Smithing or Enchanting, but will work for 8 ingame hours before you need to sleep again to get Lovers Comfort, so fast traveling can be a problem.

You can also use the Ancient Knowledge effect to get an additional 15% Smithing leveling increase after doing the quest[elderscrolls.wikia.com]

Make sure you have all the effects active (Press TAB, go to Magic, scroll down to Active Effects) when you have geatherd let's say 500 Iron ingots and you are about to power level Smithing ;)

Pick up all the Dwemer scrap metal, strut, metal plates, solid metals as they are turned into ingots along the way of doing these quests (Ancient Knowledge and Lost to the Ages).

Give the metal to your follower as they can carry a lot of weight without being overencumbered, turn these into ingots and powerlevel Smithing.

Thank you!

There is a spot at solitude that you can use magelight there at the mountain and level it up fast.

@ianmrtnz - There is one step missing from your Telekinesis tip. You must have enchanted gear with a total of at least 100% Conjuration magicka cost reduction; otherwise, the game thinks your magic crapped out partway through your trip and the item you were using has vanished.

@ianmrtnz is there a certain level my magicka needs to be at? The teleknesis thing doesnt work for me

for me, grinding skill points without Mods was by going up against a giant and blocking his attacks, then go to a safe place to heal and repeat, given the Block skill levels faster than any other skill I have ever seen.

But the Telekenis one, I might try that for a Mage character, thanks.

Easiest way to grind for skill points without mods.

Early on, prioritize leveling up magicka and health. Then head to Redwater Den in the Rift. Near a corpse in the den you can find Spell Tome: Telekinesis regardless of your current level. (This will be difficult to acquire, as there is a high level vampire in the Den.)

Once you have it, fast travel back to Riften and pay the carriage driver to take you to Markarth. Find a book or random item on the ground and cast telekinesis. While casting, quickly fast travel across the map back to Riften. When you arrive you will be Level 100 Alteration. Make legendary to zero out your Alteration level and repeat.

#krugs this is true. I tested it by switching the Mage, Thief and Warrior stones to make sure. allowed me to do it instantly.
krugs 15 Apr, 2018 @ 10:12pm
Last I cecked there is no cooldown on standing stones you can switch whenever you like.

a quick and easy way to make gold in the game without using console commands is really easy, in Riverwood, go towards the sawmill, around the back part of it is a Wood Cutters Axe, grab it (not considered stealing) and walk over to the woodblock, sit there and chop wood for a while, maybe 20 minutes straight. Go to Hod and sell the wood, there is no limit to how much Gold you will earn, it's just time consuming to do. But it will help shave time off of doing a lot of quests. (learned this trick back in my console days).
