History
In the early 2290s, the Starbound Federation began to lose its grasp on its territory, a collection of 37 pristine systems approximately 900 light years from Sol. The SBF's navy, at the time pathetically out of date, was forced back to Palomar Ring to protect the Federation's core systems. By 2293, five systems in The Frontier and six systems in Black Expanse had fallen completely under rebel control, and in early 2294, a rebel assault nearly reached the Federation's capital, Oasis. In late 2294, it was decided that the SBF would need to move on from its obsolete navy or face total collapse. At the start of 2295, the Federation commissioned several major corporations to design a selection of prototypes for its new generation of warships and military technology. Later that year, Kevin Richards, CEO of the nearly bankrupt civil corporation White Dwarf Manufacturing, somehow caught wind of this commission. After dropping everything else, he poured his remaining finances into the development of the specified prototypes. At the end of the development period in 2297, WDM submitted their designs to the Federation's Military Engineering Board. After months of rigorous tests and simulated combat, the unofficial participant's prototypes were determined to have outperformed everything developed by the official entries, smashing expectations. White Dwarf Manufacturing had just made a name for itself as the SBF's primary military developer and manufacturer. By late 2298, the very first Banshee Strike Fighter rolled off of WDM production lines.

Warship Design
WDM warships can be identified by their angled hulls and rather industrial looks. As of now, WDM has two generations of spacecraft and otherwise which follow different design philosophies. First Generation WDM tech (Banshee - Guardian) is designed around the philosophy of the best defense is a good offense. Extreme firepower is prioritized over balanced but mediocre armor and speed, with primarily ion propulsion systems. Heavy broadside weaponry and a unique system of armaments dubbed the Compact Weapons System grant immense firepower at the cost of complicated construction. Second Generation WDM tech (Enforcer - present) is designed around a balance of firepower and speed over armor. A greater usage of standard weapon systems allows for simpler construction, and a reliance on hydrogen propulsion allows for a much cheaper build cost and higher maneuverability. Advanced ECM systems and gravity shields are used on larger WDM warships to additionally increase combat effectiveness.

Major Allies
With the Starbound Federation back on it's feet, it could assist the allied Democratic Republic of Orion in their ongoing war against the Terrans (Regnion). WDM is just one of the three major corporations developing warships to keep DRO and SBF space safe.
