This is an Update of Bugses' Rise and Fall (v.3.6) a Mod for the Ages, bringing it to version 3.12.* of the Game. Credit goes to Him.



Experience the Cycles of History
As we know from the annals of time, the decline of a mighty empire can be just as captivating, if not more so, than its ascent. This mod endeavors to weave such compelling narratives into the fabric of Stellaris, a realm that previously lacked this captivating dynamic.

  • Decay of Power - Empires Crumble Beneath Their Weight: Over time, the seeds for decline are sown, the weight of their own power will take its toll on even the most formidable empires. The greater their might compared to their neighbors, the more susceptible they become to internal decay.
  • Crisis Unleashed - Erosion Ensues: This decay will manifest in a series of escalating crises, each chipping away at the hegemons strength until a breaking point is reached, triggering an imperial collapse.
  • Fragmentation - The Legacy of a Fallen Empire: Once enough decay has accumulated and the empire is crippled by constant crises, it will begin to crumble into smaller states. Eventually, all but the core territory will be lost, leaving behind the scattered remnants of a once-great power.

But the game does not end there - no fear, the tides of history offer a path of rebirth: Even in the face of an empire's downfall, there is still hope. Surviving the collapse, navigating the chaos, and emerging stronger than ever before is a possibility, thanks to permanent bonuses gained each time the cycle is endured.

Will your empire stand the test of time, or will it become a relic of history?

Note: This mod introduces significant challenges and volatility to the game. Consider yourself warned!



Changelog 3.12:
• Modernized and optimized code
• Increased performance (e.g. missing is_triggered_only; reduced script values processing)
• Increased compatibility (using general triggers, the Merger of Rules is not mandatory)
• Merged Rise and Fall - Flavour Patch by ==FANATIC==
• Localization extended (and optimized)
• Added machine translations for Russian, French. Simple Chinese and German - fallbacks for all other languages
• Lowered impact for human players and machine empires (corresponding situations added, still in progress)
• Limit crisis situations only to three simultaneously
• Reward after finished crisis events (possible more)

Once these changes are finally integrated into the main mod, this mod will be removed.
Therefore, you do not necessarily have to give this patch an award - but sharing, thumbs up and favorization are still very welcome. :)

Planned:
• Implement all suggestions and criticisms (given on the old mod page)
• Interaction with Civil Wars
• More optimization (MTTH)
• Situations individual for Gestalt
• Settings: Allow players to customize the mod's aggressiveness or the frequency of decline events.
• Emphasize the Narrative: Further enhance the storytelling aspect by adding flavor text, events, and unique mechanics that flesh out the rise and fall of empires.
• Introduce Divergent Paths: Provide players with choices that influence the nature of their empire's decline, leading to different outcomes and consequences.

Compatibility
This mod should be very independent and so compatible to everything, except there could be an overkill on some point. So some exclusions need to be added (specific mods, let me know).

FAQ
Savegame compatible: yes, but with a small delay depending on how old the savegame is, maybe I'll add a compensator for this
Applies to AI: yes, even stronger
Forced start (debug): on country scope call: event riseandfall.1000

Is there even documentation on what any of the tooltips in this mean? why is any of this happening other than "just because"?? wtf is "momentum"??? how am I supposed to prevent ANY of this from happening when all the situation approaches aren't enough to offset it??

I dunno what "not an rpg mod" means but all this really does is just occasionally give you random penalties for no reason that you can't do much to offset but outproducing them is so easy i wouldn't have even noticed if i wasn't informed that it was happening. the only noticeable thing is the scheduled unpreventable military uprisings every 20 years or so past early game that are squashed effortlessly and only serve as an annoyance which encourages you to leave a fleet or two at home and keep a stockpile of minerals for when your DEFINITELY UNLOYAL 100% stability 100% happiness utopic planets rebel for no reason and raze half the industries and buildings.

@kirbcake: you must really do something wrong, the AI gets double penalty. This is not an RPG mod.
