I've used this product for years to edit videos for YouTube since version 7. It's still the only software I would recommend. It's super easy to use, you can add files from your computer no problem. Drag them to the timline, cut where you want (with the 's' shortcut or right click split). There's several transition effects to choose from, though I refrain from using anything too fancy. You can adjust the basic stuff to make it look good enough, like brightness, contrast, levels, etc. And you can even import your own settings if you find them somewhere else.

There are multiple tracks, so you can edit audio on one and video on the other. You can even 'cut' manually if you want to mask / overlay an image over another track.

Rendering's easy too, you can choose from default formats, like MP4, resolutions, sizes. Or you can lower it to like 480 if for some reason you want a smaller file. It does exactly what I'd need it for. Just make sure your computer's strong enough to handle the rendering process, because my old one was so basic that it would shut off halfway through rendering.
