What a masterpiece! From the graphics, gameplay, to story, this game has won my heart as someone who would not typically enjoy open-world and cowboy settings. The way that the game portrays characters, especially Arthur, is absolutely beautiful - including dialogues with NPCs, cut scenes, diary entries (the sketches are so beautiful too!), as well as non-cinematic scenes where you are simply observing Arthur instead of controlling him (my god, the scene where you had to walk over dead bodies after Arthur was defending the castle on the beach, and the scene after the bridge explosion where Arthur had to take a minute before he can move around because he was so sick BROKE MY HEART.).
You really feel for Arthur as a character, including his emotions and mindset towards the gang and the world around him. The world is extremely immersive with lots of details; even random and seemingly irrelevant NPCs have dialogue that reveal their own backstories. Side quests and random encounters are also entertaining, always making me curious to know more. I only have minor complaints for this game, such as the NPCs always rushing you when you're trying to loot bodies during missions (I get that money doesn't matter but I love looting ok!) and the long travel time for missions. Otherwise, RDR2 has set an exceptionally high bar for my future games and I will always miss playing as Arthur Morgan <3
