LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures was one of my first LEGO games I ever played, back on the PS2. Revisiting it here was super nostalgic for me. It's what made me fall in love with the concept of treasure hunting, and the franchise that is Indiana Jones. Listening to the movie soundtracks will sooner make me think of the games than they do the films, just because of how much I used to play.

For the most part, this game still holds up. The level designs are fun (though I prefer Raiders and Crusade over Temple), and it's satisfying to comb through them again in free play to find all the stuff you missed. You've also got a nice variety of characters to choose from, including a cameo from another Harrison Ford character. The hub is relatively small, but it works well for this game.

That's not to say there are no flaws. Sometimes the game won't let you jump properly while moving, which affects two parcels (one of which was really aggravating). The wrench characters aren't fun to use because of how bad they swing. I sometimes had to play as the second character to complete a couple of puzzles, thanks to the AI not cooperating. This character also has a tendency to get stuck behind objects. The bonus levels you unlock are fine, but they don't totally feel like they're worth the effort, especially not the warehouse one. Then the game showers you with studs and hearts when you're in the museum hub after you've gotten 100%, which I wish could be toggled on or off.

However, aside from a few difficult or frustrating moments, not recommending the game would practically be a crime. Yes, this may not be as technically good as the newer LEGO games, but it deserves at least one playthrough. It took me just over 20 hours to 100% beat the game, and it was ultimately a satisfying experience. The Original Adventures may be a bit of a relic at this point, but it's a worthy classic that gives me a lot of joy.
