The controls for this game are an absolute downgrade from Snowrunner in every way.
The best update the devs could make to this game would be to add the V button and its menu from Snowrunner to this game. It is baffling that it isn't in the game in the first place, since it was in both Mudrunner and Snowrunner. without it, basic tasks like switching vehicles require going through multiple menus to do.
On top of that, having to leave the map to do anything from upgrading your vehicle to starting the next "expedition" really takes away the feeling of the world and the maps, and it becomes horrifically tedious to do after the first time, especially in comparison to Snowrunner.
