Very grueling and unforgiving, but fun and engaging.
This game will chew you up and spit you back out over and over until you become experienced enough to survive. I died so many times that I wanted to drop the game and give up, but I persevered and now I feel like a professional post-apocalyptic-future-earth survivor.
There's a huge map to learn and explore, platforming elements that you will learn and master, enemies to analyze and learn to avoid (usually the hard way), and many gameplay/survival elements to wrap your head around as you are beaten and battered by the unforgiving environment around you. Overall- a lot to learn.
The atmosphere and story (but mostly the atmosphere) are super immersive and really are what kept me going through the rougher segments. From the wonderful world-building and design to the funky soundtrack to the beautiful pixel art/graphics, this game's atmosphere is really key to the experience in my opinion.
