There are things you need to know before getting into Siege:

The time to kill is insanely fast, faster than most games. One shot headshots help with this and it will take some getting used to.
You need to learn your op and get comfortable with their weapons and gadgets because every weapon has a different recoil pattern, attachments, sights, etc.
Buy all the Founder Ops because they are the usually the most useful and can be used interchangeably, all the ops beyond that are situational, plus the Founders only cost 1000rek compared to 10-25k.
Learn your maps and your callouts, this is extremely helpful and will potentially give you the upperhand, even when you are dead you can watch cameras/drones and help your team with callouts.
Once you have identified an enemy defender or attacker, do not scan them with 'X' again, you can now mark their spot with Z even in drones/cameras. This will help with the enemy not taking out your cameras and drones because they will continue to search for it if they are constantly being spotted 'they will have a red notification that they are spotted pop on their screen'.
Movement is key, in a firefight you do not want to stay still because you will most likely be headshot, it takes time but learning to use your 'c' 'q' and 'e' will give you the upperhand.
Watch for spawn peeks from windows and doors if you are an attacker, early picks can change the outcome of the round.
Don't be frustrated at first because the skill ceiling is huge, learn your game the way you want to play it and you will eventually figure out what works and what doesnt.
A lot of attachments are personal preference, there is cases where one is just better for the particular gun over the other, but sights, muzzle attachments, and grips can all be what you like and are comfortable with.

Overall the game is a lot of fun and is semi-friendly for new players. You will meet obvious smurfs but they will be few in-between. If you can afford it, wait for a sale and buy a non-starter addition, this will give you more ops to play with and might help you keep entertained, but always remember the cheapest ops can be the most effective.
