The game would be tolerable, if only they would nerf Velma more.
I don't feel liek the last 11 nerfs and debuffs to her stats and kit have been enough, you really gotta grind those heels in when you stomp here, ok PFG?

So maybe next nerf we REALLY feel it.

You have horns and horn abilities, instead of hats
your "normal " horns show you your next area of focus
you collect stuff to unlock morelooks for no reason then for fun
you have a grappling hook move swing by defualt pretty much

what you see is what you get, I played before launch and my playtime isnt accurate

this is 6 levels of 12 planned, and there's secrets a couple of easter egg modes and a ton of fun

if you liek star fox/ panzer dragoon - this is your jam

This is pretty good, if you've played games liek Revita, Neon AByss or rogue legacy you will sink into this roguelite pretty comfortably

pros - the visual style is distinct and neat
cons - the visual style is massive contrasts, and can hurt your eyes after abit

gonna elaborate a bit here.

Weapon perks are sometimes confusing ) glimmer? daze? surge? ( none of these are really explained.

Meta progression is a bit overbearing, it doesn't let you bring a freshly unlocked powerup with you the time you pay for it, for upgrades in columns 2 and 3, you merely add them to the pool.

column 1? adds the amount and variety of starting items you can take for each run,
think dead cells, how you get one of each gear type?
well this game starts you off with one, and then you can take up to FIVE different things before a run begins!

this is way too OP, and the fact you don't have to buy perks in succession to get to the really good ones, emans you can just save up and buy these starting room perks before anythign else. it kinda breks the game.


speaking of which, you will find this game fllows children of morta progression more than say, etg or boi.

you get a small 3 room chunklet of the manor

then once beaten, you ge ta 6 room chunklet

and then a 9 room chunk
and then a redacted
you get some things to do.


difficulty is middling, depends on your current loadout and sill.
some bulbs are cracked, some are downright worthless 9 lookin st you , bubble )

different bulb ( read : shot types ) have different stats, you can pickup the same bulb, and have two totally different stats between range, power, etc

Ilike this things,
the bosses are simple enough, but not all pushovers

the art style is gonna be make it or break it, a decently sized manor run can take almost an hour if you pick through rooms ( which you wont need to if you simply have all the starting items before starting lol )

mini map likes to obscure the top right corner, and is a bit of a pain to deal with ( as thing often hide behind itin literally every room )


I do enjoy this game, and I wanted to flesh out some of the reasoning behind it.
I am a sucker for the black and white motif, so I usually buy every single game that looks this way.


honestly, didnt even know it was a roguelite at first, I assumed it was a regualr itchio style horror game

meat is good

don't even bother trying this until the game is balanced better.

unlike good roguelike games, this one choses to take all your skill and effort, and toss it inthe trash bc everythign is RNG, down to your oevery shot, items idt decides to give you, and then even choosing what pat you take after an event is RNG, you canjust litwrally get tilted sidwways on a shot, and end up in the exact opposite spot.

bosess have insanely stupid HP levels ( 6-8k for BOSS TWO ) and boss 3 has 4 pieces of 4 k EACh. and this dude attacks you every freekin turn for liek 12 damage. you are brown bread in a matter of 1 minute.

and ALL the bosses are the same way, with regualr encounters being randomly garbage bc the map sucks, the gimmicj isnt fun, and there's no steadfast ways to reple3mncish/upgrade orbs, or heal.
evewn THAT is random, sometimes ou can upgrade an orb after barttle, sometimes oyu can heal, and you canalaways skip rewards.

Hey the game updated! it added new mechanics, balls and CLASSES< OOOOO


so here's the problem
you unlock the new classes through unlocking STUPIDILY HIGH ACHEIVEMENTS


: dev team : we sweated and worked on these new fun classes for y'all to play !
also dev team : now stand on your head balancing on a ball on a ball on a thumbtack on a moving plate while havinf knives thrown at you, have fun!

stupid ways to UNLOCK the lasses to have way less fun playing them
stupid new RNG
less and less focus, more and more clutter - no way to clean the crap from your item pools - just have fun choosing 17% of all the orbs you see after battle.


it's too random now to even have a glimmer of a chance of being strategical in any way.
pachinko is literally more strategic than this is atm '

playign on controller?

nope!
don't even try, it's so so badly implemented in this stage, everythgin else is spot-on
the atmosphere, the writing, all of it is great - but when you try to aim your arm and use moves with it ( on controlelr ) it all falls apart mega quick.

it's a wet fart after that amazing intro, how badly the arm aims and controls on a controller.

Im sure it's great on mouse and keyboard - just another issue is the tutorials gives oyu the button inputs of KEYBOARD and MOUSE.
which is .. less than helpful.

I'll note they didn't even put controller support on the page - but yeah.
it's 2022. Controller support is at lleast a minimum requirement - especially if you wanna publish your game on a non-pc.

work on those controls devs, the rest is superb!

first impression:
it's totally tubular

if you tried to play on Switch and couldnt deal with the loading times and poor framerate, then this is fine.
it runs and plays well, loading times were done before the sun set and the framerates dont hit single digits.
they actually stay in the triple digits for me

no visual settings, who cares? you wont need em, its lightweight.

no mouse and keyboard, and no controlelr customizaiton . thats the bad stuff,
