So I preface by saying Skyrim is the game that shaped my taste in single player games, it's also one of the games I played the most during my early teens so I might be biased but who cares.

The opinion may have shifted more against Skyrim these recent years with Morrowind and Oblivion hispters emerging, and the whole "they took the RP out of my G" crowd, but I still believe this is a game worth trying out.

I'll be honest now that I've revisited it, the game is a bit bland. Most quests are not complex, few have branching outcomes, and the gameplay isn't hard. However the world is still good looking and the gameplay loop of pick up quest, clear dungeon and reap rewards is kinda addictive.

The game has great interactivity, pretty much all items laying in the environnement can be picked up and added to your inventory. I love collecting stuff in games so this part is important to me.

The leveling system is straightforward but still very well executed in my opinion, you don't have to read wiki pages to not screw yourself over. You do an action > You level up the associated skill tree. By doing that you gain some global xp, and once you get enough global xp to level up your character you gain a perk point that you can use to unlock a perk in one of the skill trees.

But the game's greatest strength is the ability to mod it. The amount of tools/plugins/replacers made for this game is insane : You can completely change the visuals, turn the gameplay into dark souls, add tons of items or even make it a horny simulator if you're that kind of person.

The game with this version has 3 DLCs

1st one, Dawnguard adds a new questline that's pretty good, some minor locations and a cool follower.

2nd one, Hearthfire is build your house simulator, not kidding that's all there is.

3rd one, Dragonborn adds a new map, the size being roughly a quarter of the main game's, and tons of quests or minor locations to check out.
