Wellp... I'm here cuz I've been meaning to play this for a long time and the TV series gave me that little push I needed, like it did for you too I assume. I'm gonna be honest the game expands the books and you will NOT see what Henry Cavill did... except for the intro.
The graphics are not the best, but hey this is an old game don't expect much. Stiff models and expressionless faces are everywhere, yet the combat animations, though quite repetitive, make up for it (I'll get back to why in gameplay)
The voice acting is quite good but I feel like it gets stiff because of 2 things, the VAs themselves and the stiff models and animations.
Story is quite amusing and really stresses you out with the choices and consequences presented. World is well built and extensive, since this is a clear love letter to the novels. You are gonna have a long time reading paragraphs with info about monsters, politics, previous history and more! (might wanna chill on the history part cuz you could consider them a spoiler for the TV series)
Now gameplay... WOO boy this is a tough one. They didn't really know how to do this so they experimented a bit. Camera is not very good on 3rd person for combat and i would only recommend it on 1 on 1 combat, but even so it's not that good. I'd stay with the F2 camera. Now for combat, the big elephant in the room... how do i say this.... it's a rythm game. Yup it's a rythm game where you click on time when the sword flashes. You do change from 3 different types of combat: strong, fast and group. But the first 2 only matter against certain opponents and group works for 3 or more opponents. now going back to the repetitive animation part, it's nice cuz they are flashy and let you know whenever you have to click again together with the sound of the sword swirling around. To make it more withcery you can make potions (very important) and bombs (totally optional). You are somewhat encouraged to try making potions at random by a character but I highly disagree. Just buy a few books or take them from cupboards, read' em, sell 'em.
Music and sound are both a perfect fit for poland in 1270. Instruments and composition work together to make a great ambience and time setting.
TL;DR: Good game 7/10
