I suck at chess, but I only half-suck at shotgun.

It takes a while to get used to the isometric layout to the levels, but there's a nice gameplay loop and challenge runs tied to achievements and unlocks. It's still getting updates, so I'd recommend getting it on sale. There's rogue-likes for about the same price with more content like Enter the Gungeon, but if you've played through games like that already it might be worth giving this a shot.

This is a must-play for the "choose your own adventure" sub-genre. It's got a great story, interesting characters, and a consistent tone with reasonable pacing. There's a healthy amount of replay value if you want to be a different type of Brante, with certain events only occurring if you've done a long series of things in the past.

The final two chapters have some issues with staging actions that don't make as much sense depending on the run, and sometimes decisions that seem logical based on past actions are locked out for arbitrary reasons. Definitely play this with choice rewards visible; it spoils things occasionally, but the effects can be very different from what you'd expect.

Overall, this is a great game. I'd buy it if you're at all interested in text-based story games.

I'm really glad they kept the bingo line in the remake

This game has no right to be as good as it is, especially with how solid the writing and story is despite the game literally being just expanded Gwent.

Worth it for the soundtrack alone, but this game is amazing. It falls off a bit toward the end where there are more things maxed out than not and there's not much to do, but the story, characters, and overall vibe make the massive time investment that this game is worth it.

Oneshot is on par with Undertale in terms writing, music, and art with a lower game time. What sets it apart is its creative use of using the PC medium to its advantage. If that didn't convince you...cats and pancakes?

Contrary to what others might say about Blue Fire, it sort of got better as it went along. I accidentally missed the double dash and the charge attack vertical moves for most of the game, so I had to find a ton of creative ways to reach places where I assume it was expected that I would have those as utility. The combat works and isn't anything special, but the layout of the world works really well with the light-medroidvania theming Blue Fire seems to go for. The platforming is a big draw if that sort of thing interests you. My best comparison would be to a smaller-scale Hat in Time, but it has the charm to make it still worth playing.

Feeling like DS1 with that banger opening and decent ending

It's a game made with care and it has a good sense of humor. The best parts are toward the end where it makes a sudden shift in story, but it is a very short game. I 100%ed it casually and did a decent amount of the end-game rogue-like, and I still clocked in about 3 hours.
