14/06/2019: Easily my favourite game on Steam for nearly a year straight.

Edit 06/08/2020: Still my favourite game on Steam. (Kinda makes it my favorite game for two years straight.)
Edit 10/07/2021: Still my favourite game on Steam. (Three years straight!)
Edit 03/10/2022: Still my favourite game on Steam. (Four years straight, although I have some concerns about how the game keeps evolving.)

Edit 30/12/2024: I could write a novel on all of the things that have started to bother me about Hunt: Showdown since approximately july 2023, but I'm going to keep it as short as possible:

This is no longer the game I bought in early access back in 2018, and that is absolutely fine. The game has shifted from this (more or less stealth centered) first person shooter with tactical notes, some hardcore mechanics to a far more dynamic (almost arcade-y) first person shooter that operates under the Live Service principle... and that's also fine.

What is not fine, is that this live service that aims to get people to pay to play (by means of buying battle passes, cosmetics and gun-animations) is dealing with a plethora of what I would call "issues" for months upon months, while it seems like Crytek has no focus on fixing them.

In short:
- Performance gets worse with every update.
- Audio has been degrading for over a year now.
- The UI has degraded to the unusable.
- Netcode on this game is just bad.
- Kill trades are rampant, despite "fixes".
- Bullets and throwables get stopped by invisible walls / hitboxes.
- Content comes out at a snail's pace, as opposed to events and cosmetics that drop once or twice per month.
- New weapons come out with each event, but every new weapon is yet another part in a constant power creep.
- There is barely any QA, every new thing released comes with new bugs that don't get fixed until the next major update.
- There are rarely hotfixes during an event (even on gamebreaking things), unless it directly impacts income.

In it's current state, I cannot recommend Hunt: Showdown because all of the above.
