Woodways is a really good puzzle game with a simple concept. You have between 1 and 4 animals on a grid and you need to move them in a certain position to finish the level. The catch is that all the animals move at the same time, so you have to use special blocks, like rocks that block your way, or ice that makes you slide, in order to move the animals in the right configuration. There are three animal types, a duck, a buffalo, and a fox, each with special properties, for example the duck can float on water, and the fox can step once on fragile blocks before they break.

The puzzles are really well designed and fun and challenging. A lot of indie developers make the mistake of making really big puzzles, mistaking tediousness for challenge, but this game doesn't fall into that trap. The puzzles are small, nothing is there that shouldn't be there, and the challenge comes from the great puzzle design.

As you progress, you unlock new sections containing new types of blocks and challenges. One thing I liked is that it's not necessary to complete every puzzle to get to the next section, so if you're stuck on a puzzle, you can simply go around it and get back to it at a later time. Another great thing is that you can undo any number of moves, so if you make a mistake you're not stuck having to start back at the beginning.

The game plays very well and you have many options on how to play. You can move with WASD, or with the arrow keys, or with the mouse. You can even play on a touchscreen or with a controller. The only down side to playing with a controller is that currently you can only move with the joystick even though the D-Pad would be much better for this type of game.

Visually, as you can see in the screenshots, the game looks great. The music is also pretty good, but the transition between the level select screen's music and the levels' music is pretty rough, and since some of the levels are pretty short, it can get annoying having the music quickly change from one track to another to another.

For the length of the game, for now I've played about 45 minutes and completed just over half the levels, but since as you progress it gets more and more complicated, it will probably take between 3 and 5 hours to complete, which is great for such a low price.
