Learning to Mod are mostly learning how thing works from previous mods and then compare it to the base files as you slowly getting used on the pillars that built the game.

for unit card/UI modding you can use RPFM(Rustic Pack File Manager) to open the Waifu Unit Card Pack file to see the paths that changes the Unit Cards.
you can extract to find the card resolution and Shogun 2 only takes .tga files.
