9 months later and the game is finally fun to play, if anything it is now how it should have been on release.

Biggest problem now is the lack of not just heists in general (i know we're spoiled from 2) but fun heists. Lots of the launch heists just aren't interesting or fun. Luckily the 2 DLC heists so far are pretty good. There's a long way to go but it's getting there.

Best F1 game in years, higher price tag is a bit of a turnoff but the amount of content available kinda calls for it.

Early Access Review
There are many such examples of games releasing with a full AAA price tag with the same amount of content that is available here in early access. The game is highly replayable and can honestly only get better. Get it now before the price goes up for the full release.

This game is fun as a racing game but generally pretty bad in every other aspect. It's 2021 with a new useless feature (F1 Life) super cars and Miami. If you're gonna buy it wait for a sale.

Overall

Although good this game has a lot of issues the game released in and still is in a buggy state and even moving by that this game just feels inferior compared to Horizon 4 the map for this game just doesn't feel anywhere near as good as 4's alongside the complete lack of weather and seasons, sure seasons are there but there is basically no difference between them besides a light drizzle in freeroam and heavy rain in the seasonal races (which is scripted) but there is a distinct lack of any difference 4 had snow, rain and all sorts of weather this game has nothing besides a sandstorm which in 152 hours of playtime since day 1 I have not seen in freeroam even once.

Car Models

Some of the car models are abysmal with models from Horizon 2 (8 year old game) still being recycled such as the R32 GTR and the S15 model from the first Motorsport game (17 year old game) which doesn't even really look like an S15 as well as a large amount of other models that lack the love and attention that some other cars have been given.

Conclusion

This game is good don't get me wrong and I do still recommend it to anyone who loves cars or wants a solid racing game but it's far away from what it could be and far away from being the best horizon game. Side note it's now 6 months after release and there is yet to be a single expansion released compared to other Horizons which receive them usually by January (3 months after release) but hopefully this means it adds a significant amount of content that makes it bearable to play this game once again but this does mean the game (at time of review) is very stale and is just recycled cars from old Forza games that playground label as new when they release new seasons every month.

1.0 is worth it even if just for commander mode. But the game still lacks some features that I'm sure we'll get eventually. Some maps are pretty horrible due to the AI level mainly Greased Palms where it feels like no matter what you do you're going to get you or your teammates killed unlike a map like Ides of March where if you approach it right you'll be completely fine. Flashbangs are useless half the time so getting S rank is pretty difficult if you don't want to bring a beanbag shotgun or pepperball launcher.

One nitpick to note is that the customisation menu has multiple different names for different levels. Which isn't really a problem when you know the maps actual names and location names but they use old pre-release names for some maps like Agency for The Spider and Coyote for Rust Belt which, again, if you've been keeping up with the game you'll know what these maps are but if you're new good luck figuring out which map is which.

The suspect morale system needs a serious looking at, tweaker junkies and inexperienced criminals have the same fearless attitude toward a flashlight in the face and a riot shield as rogue war vets. Doesn't really add up when you think about it.

As for performance issues mentioned in other reviews I have experienced nothing of the sort.
