REALISTIC AF
caseless ammo
liberation of dark skinned humans
british strangers

The mechanics are solid. I like the stamina system. Makes equip load important. A rocket launcher is cool but you can't move fast. You will run out of breath when moving up a hill. I love that.
Aiming has a lot of sway - which i like. Because the combat slows down and becomes more delibrate. Patience is required. Moving and shooting is pretty impossible.

The mechanical problems are:
There's hardly any indication of health. Breathing heavily means you're hurt?! That's about it.
Hitting enemies causes them to flinch. Their limbs to rotate violently then return to normal. And AI's aim is unaffected by flinching. But yours is ♥♥♥♥♥♥.
The bullet entry is calculated so shooting near the edges of the target will deal less damage. However they flinch all the same. So you don't know how much damage you've dealt already. And you sometimes unload magazine after magazine into the same guy.

The campaign feels horrible after the first few missions. I don't know why there are so many stealth missions. But the mechanics dosen't suit them.
Really wants you to command a squad. But the mechanics are too clunky, the AI too dumb. You shouldnt need to move each NPC individually or control their aggression manually. Remember the missions need stealth?
There are lots of cool vehicles. But they aren't used properly in the campaign. You are never in a engineering role. You fly a helicopter once that's about it. The heavy artillery was never used. Could've cool for a mission. Proper tanks not APCs.
Weapons start to feel bland after a couple of missions.
Scouting missions are unnecessary. They have no rewards and are pretty boring.
The base building theme is pretty dumb. You could've given the player upgrade choices after each mission which could affect how to tackle the next mission. But in reality its pointless.

AI are too robotic in my opinion. They seem to be too accurate at far ranges. They know your exact location when you shoot near them. And they don't move enough. They usually stay in one position and switch between different targets. They need to move behind cover when hurt.
And shrubbery is ignored by the AI so you HAVE to turn it off in the settings. Hiding in shrubs never gives you any "cover".
AI gets pretty dumb in vehicles. They shoot the ground indefinitely if you hide behind a small incline.

I feel like the campaign would've played better if you kept playing as a soldier under command. And received orders.

Multiplayer is a strange place. Theres pvp and pve.

Pvp feels like battlefield but ♥♥♥♥.
Usually has progression but all guns are pretty similar so whats the point?
Death is instant. Fighting is too far away from the spawn.
Vehicles are pretty desirable. But you have to buy them.

Pve makes more sense. Especially with that mode that spawns some players as baddies.
But the AI again drags the experience down. They are too dumb to create interesting scenarios.
Couldn've interesting if the AIs tried to escape in vehicles or hide inside buildings etc. But they just stand out in a field and shoot at nearby players.

An outstanding game in the first few hours of play.
But as you play more and more the game starts to fall apart.

Story becomes ♥♥♥♥ after your father's reveal.
Mechanics become ♥♥♥♥ after you start levelling up.

Poaching is far too easy. Gives you insane amounts of cash.

Combat starts off strong but gets weird. The high level enemies seem to parry all your attacks. And the combos are worthless because you need to attack multiple times to activate them. My strat was to bind their weapon and knock them back for a guaranteed headshot.
Group combat is too clunky. The worst is the snapping of attacks. It looks out of place and feels weird.

Missions dont work as intended. The church infilatration mission is a good example. There's different ways of getting into the church. The choices arent clear so you probably end up going with the obvious route. Each objective isnt clear. As you play you work out that there are many useless objectives that dont help you. And there are far too many glitches.

The first lockpicking tutorial dosent give you any more lockpicks to try after you failed.

I think its better to keep missions simpler. Keep them more linear. Make the choices more clear to the player. Cleanup the area after the mission. It's immersion breaking to move back into the area after completing the mission and seeing all the horses still from the cut-scene.

The voice acting is great if its british. But there's a single American voice that is clearly more temperamental.

You cant have polearms in your inventory. Enemies use them, you can use them. But you cannot carry them.

Horse control is pure ♥♥♥♥. Learn from warband. Slow down changes in movement. Slow down the horse if it gets stuck, dont keep it at full speed in a tree. And there's too much bumpiness in the road. Smoothen the ride.

The mocap cutscenes are superb. The overall story is pretty good.

Feels different from Dirt Rally. But ... tarmac/concrete is still bad.
Lots of DLCs that have cool cars. But their costs add up.
The newer low displacement cars are quite fun.

Edit: After playing it again I change my opinion. Its very refined and polished. Thats the biggest difference compared to other games. There's new content if you're willing to pay a little more.

Probably still THE BEST rally game ignoring the tarmac/concrete situation.

Mostly GT3 or JDM.
Content manager is a must to fix the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ UI.
Singleplayer bots are bit weird. There's no campaign or anything.
Most popular multiplayer servers currently are : Tokyo Wagan highway topspeed racing, Nordschleife DTM or JDM, GT3 Spa.

Biggest complaint - there are not many good maps.
But it has lots of cool cars and feels realistic AF even with the janky ui.

Very fun.

Singleplayer:

Native game is ♥♥♥♥. Feels empty.

Warband is alright, but lots of weird unrealistic ♥♥♥♥. Throwing knives, leather armour.
Units are cheap so large armies are quite easy to build - which is bad because this game dosent handle large armies well.
When there are too many units, they spawn in waves which slow down the game a lot. And you CANT die otherwise it will auto fight the rest of the battle.
Auto fighting ALWAYS favours the lower levelled troops. High tier soldiers will die too much. And peasants somehow kill full plates.
Seiging is very dumb. Dosen't make sense and is hard to pull off. You cannot perform any action (catching runners from the castle under seige) and time speeds up automatically (an army arrive on top of you). Leaving the seige will destroy all your progress.
Late game weapon options are limited. Everyone just uses the same plate armour and cleaver. Not very interesting.
10/10 music

Native multiplayer is just ♥♥♥♥♥♥ chivalry/mordhau but more shallow. It's for trihards and has no depth. Boils down to using the cleaver and all other mechanics are worthless.

Fire and sword is a lot of fun. Cool weapons and troops. Grenades. Shooting volleys of muskets is the best. But getting hit by a single musket at the start of a battle feels really bad.
9/10 music

Napoleonic wars is purely multiplayer. The music is amazing and the tutorial is meh. Kinda troll multiplayer. Dosen't use all its mechanics properly. Holdfast copied this formula so its not all bad.
9/10 music

Viking conquest is very realistic.
The singleplayer is so different that it almost passes for a new game. Troops are very hard to upgrade. They cost loads and gain xp very slowly. Which makes high tier troops more valuable. And cheap troops are used more often.
The camping mechanic would be cool if not for NPCs ignoring that mechanic. I like the way morale changes with camping/sailing, but again NPCs ignore that mechanic.
Sieging is slightly different but still bad.
Multiplayer is different than the others. I liked that you could recruit NPCs to fight for you. Like in the singleplayer. Different players had different strategies. Running around on horses, holding a hill with archers, rampaging with heavy infranty...
Has weird dark ages music. Atmospheric but not EPIC. 8/10

No other game is remotely similar. But I think it needs a lot of polishing and reworking.

A game only for trihards.
Every map needs to be memorised like the back of your buttcheeks.
But if you do, it can be quite fun coordinating with friends.

The zombie mode long ago was fun. Apart from that, single player is non-existent.

Feels less like breaching and preaching. But more like stomping noobs.

It's ridiculous how simultaneously scuffed and polished this game is.

For example: its super scuffed net code vs its super polished balancing (remember that there are no longer any patches).
