Summary:
Vampire survivors is a very deep rogue-lite that greatly accelerated the low-budget bullet-hell genre by emphasizing the power curve between frantic desperation and overwhelming steamroller, providing high volumes of play customization, and a strong unlock-driven progression. The game is best in 30-40 minute windows, and is easily accessible for anyone that doesnt get easily triggered by flashing lights.

Pros:
- Lots of characters / weapons + skills to create a huge array of builds
- Customization levels are insane
- Randamazzo and Darkasso are great in run modifiers
- Adventures are interesting while maintaining a new, elevated level of challenge
- LOTS of DLC with tons of characters, weapons, and boards
- The Castlevania DLC by itself deserves huge recognition for the 2d-> 2d perspective flips

Cons:
- White reaper is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
- some of the characters seem pointless

Overall:
The insanely low price point on this game, the ease of access, and the replay-ability make this the must-have for rogue-lite enjoyers.

Score: 8/10

Summary:
A pleasant blend largely of Dark Souls 1 level design and Lies of P paced combat, this parry forward souls-like is an interesting puzzle to solve. The good aspects of this game shine very brightly, but it is unfortunately marred by some serious bugs. Heavily steeped in Italian culture, and thematically driven by classical compositions, this game has moments of intense beauty, and an interesting story that helps drive the NG+ (and beyond) experience, that would benefit heavily from rigorous play-testing.

Pros:
- Beautiful atmosphere: the music, settings, and scale are perfectly in sync
- Excellent, well thought out combat mechanics that heavily reward trying new things
- A simple 4 sided Rock-Paper-Scissors Status system that really shines through the mid-game and in NG+
- The level design is best in class
- Good variety of bosses, low cut+paste repeats of previous bosses
- The story is interesting
- The talent system - lore collection combination is a really good idea to reward exploration

Cons:
- Bugs: Maja's quest bugged, Veltha's quest bugged, multiple fights bugged, NPC voice line bugs constantly requiring Alt+F4 resets, one playthrough the vendor bugged completely. This game has so many weird bugs that its hard to recommend without the game going through serious play-testing and patching. This lowers the games score in my mind by at least 2 full points, if not more.
- Moretta is a bastard
- The Pulcinella fight removing all the masks / aspects / lines and forcing you to engage with items and weapons seems like a good idea, but the implementation is wonky given the heavy reliance on these elements in every other fight. If it operated instead around returning each of the stolen elements after each crit, it would feel a lot better.

Overall:
I really liked this game, and really appreciated it from beginning to end. I'm extremely frustrated by the buggy nature of it, which tempers my excitement and ability to recommend it without it going through a serious amount of retooling, testing, and patching. It deserves more attention, both from the souls community and the developers.

Score: 5.75/10
