First game I have proof I've played over 1,000 hours
Also just recently beat the final content release so might as well write a review.
My very first Monster Hunter game, had a blast the whole time. Loved trying different weapons and playstyles, makes the game feel fresh. You can honestly start out with any weapon, take it from me; I started with the Hunting Horn and Charge Blade lol
I'll probably keep coming back to it even after Monster Hunter Rise comes out.
And don't worry about not getting the Iceborne expansion if you're considering a first-time purchase, the base game still has plenty enough content.
