If you have been playing Tekken long enough you will be apart of a now sadly shrinking group of players that were brought up without the Rage Art Panic Button. Movement was King and skill was equity put into the game and winning was a fine line of high stress clutch moment with a series of chess moves, intuition and reads that usually meant the winner was better or capitalised on an opponents misstep.

This was The Way of the Iron Fist and it was the Golden Age of Tekken. We didn't know it at the time that a change was coming to enamour the masses of Casual player that would inundate Tekken in hopes of gaining a large audience. In this respect Tekken was a success and huge gains in players and sales were made. Lots of great things came of the end of the Golden Age. These changes now meant the aged wizened veterans of Tekken had to change as well or be left in the dust.

This change has come and Tekken is a different landscape, gone is the strategic defensive battle fought on a razors edge. The innovation of skills, movement and oki are now standardised and prepared for a casual understanding of the game. We now have get off me button [Heat] when someone is so superior to you that they make you feel like they are reading your mind in anticipation of your next move. The most tragic loss in Tekken is the killer instinct that was cultivated when you smelled blood in the water it mean GO FOR THE KILL. Now you must be constantly weary of the Rage Art and can never forget that there is a single button that will kill you regardless of skill. You must remain mindful and always bait, anticipate or suffer the consequences of Going for the Kill.
