I enjoyed my time with the game. Is overall fun for you and specifically 2, 3, or 5 other friends, but there are some caveats/downsides.

1) There is a grind.
The game is built like an MMO, so a lot of the time instead of experiencing new content or variations on it, you are encouraged to log-in, at least weekly, to grind and farm, until you are max level at least.

2) The PvP is just not good.
Not to say that it can't be fun, but it is very unusual and unbalanced 90% of the time. I found myself either destroying or being destroyed most game. Items and Abilities are varied and can be interesting, but many guns, skills, and other things are just much better for PvP, and it shows.

3) Paying for more content.
Honestly this is the least egregious offense. You are advertised weekly, if not more often, to possibly pay for in-game currency, or buying DLC. Since the game has gone Free-To-Play on Steam, I can't hold it against the game, but it really does feel like "they made it free because no one else was really buying it, and if we pull some people in for free, we can make them feel like they need to pay for more content."
