An incredibly atmospheric walking simulator with very simple puzzles here and there along the way. Rough around the edges. I mean, very rough. Done by one man after all, so beware. But due to its special theme and vibe, this game is really one of its kind. And that's what redeems all its flaws to me.
Imagine S.T.A.L.K.E.R or Metro 2033 stripped of their gameplay routine almost entirely, with only the atmosphere left to focus on. Viscous. Bleak. Creepy. Meditative. Unspoken... It's like a gamified Andrei Tarkovsky's movie. So if you are a fan of his talent or enjoyed the games mentioned above primarily for their atmosphere, 35MM is simply a must-play title for you!

@jboord44 Have you read my review thoroughly? I DID add a caveat saying that this game is a must-play for you, if you are a big fan of S.T.A.L.K.E.R., Metro franchise and Andrei Tarkovsky's movies. Otherwise, you should buy it at your own discretion.
I got 35MM for a couple of bucks during summer sale myself, but to me it would probably be a decent purchase for a full price. Being a true fan of all things mentioned above and not being a fan of walking simulators at all, I got my expectations surpassed by far after playing this game through. But I can agree that 35MM is definitely not for everyone.
And generally speaking, I think that there's probably no single game out there which I could recommend as a must play for everyone without attaching any proviso whatsoever.

Must play? Are you sure? I haven't played it but my point is there are so many games out there, I don't know how many of them I would consider must plays. There are thousands and thousands of amazing games we will never get to play simply because we don't have time to play them all, there are too many out there. For me personally, it's hard to put a walking sim in the category of must-play, even though I agree there are some damn good ones and they can be absolutely amazing experiences. I loved firewatch for example, thought it was amazing, but I don't know if I would call it a must play simply because of the walking sim part of it. Walking sims are light on gameplay and heavy on atmosphere and story. So I would add the caveat that this is a must play IF you love walking sims, but for the general audience most will never hear of this game, and for those that do it's prob not a must play, maybe a rainy day stash game but not quite a must play.

Ok, thank you for the suggestion :)

No, 35MM is nothing like your program. I realize it's of little help, but without trying it's almost impossible to explain why this game is good if cultural references I gave don't make sense to you. Try watching Tarkovsky on youtube.

Ok I get it. There is a program on my iphone called "watch paint dry", it actually has positive reviews on the app store because apparantly some people find it relaxing to watch paint dry. It also comes with a number of different achivements to hunt for, like watching 1 hour, 2 hours etc

dudeofdeath, first off I actually purchased 35MM during Steam Summer Sale on a big discount myself. Wouldn't probably pay full price for it either, mainly due to its rather short length. Other than that, I'd say your point about comparison with S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is only partly legit. You might like walking simulators and dislike FPS games, you might look for something easy and non-stressful to relax rather than test your skills, you might be an achievement hunter after all... Pick your choice :)

You know you can get Stalker Clear Sky for the same price as this game? Why would I buy 35mm for the same price, if it is "stripped of their gameplay routine almost entirely, with only the atmosphere left to focus on"...?? Your review makes me think I should pay no more than 1$ for this game, but they're asking 8.99...
