I wish I could recommend the game without recommending the developer. Let me explain

Warthunder is one of the most diverse, expansive, and generally fun games I have ever played
Gaijin is one of the most tone deaf, greedy, narcissistic, and generally unaware companies I have ever seen.

When I started playing Warthunder way back in 2014 it was generally a lot of fun. I wasn't the best at it but I am from a family of prop heads so getting to fly around in simulator mode scratched an itch I haven't really been able to satisfy since my first time playing IL-2. Since then I have watched the game go through a series of questionable balance changes, compression/decompression of tech trees, absolute butchering of the economy, and reckless forward behavior from a company that views the term "Feature Freeze" as the actual anti-christ. Newer and more advanced eras are being added while the mid content is left to languish not even touching on the fact that you can't repair or even put out fires on a new vehicle without a costly (for upper tiers) research or shelling out some dosh. Every time this is brought up the community is quick to jump to a "BuT The OtHer TanK gAmE mAKes You PAY" Without seeming to realize that repairs happen on their own and fires WILL be put out in that game without consumables. And don't even get me started on the fact that ships start without DAMAGE CONTROL TEAMS.

Speaking of the community, they can't make their minds up about the game. And I can't blame them.
I am/was much the same way. Getting constantly upset that my favorite game was being beaten and bled by a company that didn't even seem like it played its game.
Would I recommend this game? Yes
Would I recommend you download it, play it, get invested in it? Not at all

Well a few years and a few hours later and I stand by everything I said. Every time gaijin gets so much as an inch they go right back to their old ways. Please stay away
