Much more immersive than CK2 in my opinion and also it's surprisingly content-full for such a new Paradox game. I was legitimately surprised

This is the best TW game since Shogun 2 in my opinion. The "Romance Mode" made me skeptical at first, but in action it's really awesome, and the historical elitism in me is able to accept it due to the gameplay it adds and how cool it looks. Of course, there's the "Historical" mode as well which plays more like a traditional historical TW game with generals being mere mortals with bodyguards if you prefer it that way, but I highly recommend giving the Romance option a try, especially if you're a fan of Dynasty Warriors.

The campaign map and graphics are beautiful, and there's a level of depth to the campaign map that has been lacking in previous TW games. Optimization is pretty great as well. Even my ancient GTX 970 and i7 3820 can run the game decently on High-Ultra settings. 25-ish FPS being the absolute worst during large multi-army battles with 4000+ troops.

The level of polish is also very high. Combat animations still don't quite compare to Shogun 2's, but they're better than everything since then.

All in all, a must have strategy game for fans of historical/semi historical games and especially the Three Kingdoms period of Chinese History. I worry that we won't see this amount of passion and polish in TW games again for some time.

Basically the best Pirate game out there. It was very barebones at launch, but the Steam release after all of the updates feels like what it should have been two years ago.

I played and loved SoD 1 on Xbox 360 and PC, and refused to buy SoD 2 while it was a Windows Store exclusive. When I heard it was coming to Steam, I had to pick it up. The biggest praise I can give this game is that I often end up closing it at night with Steam telling me I just played a 200+ minute session. Your community and it's needs is totally engrossing. It is definitely buggy, just like the first game. But I really feel that the gameplay mechanics here are able to outweigh those problems.

Edit: 4 years later, and this game is even better. Fewer bugs, and the added higher difficulties, on top of the massive updates have turned this game into a pretty complex zombie survival simulation. The only other game that comes close for me is 7 Days to Die, which lacks much more in the single player department. If you're going for single player mainly/only, then this is the best zombie survival game on Steam right now

It's like they took the most disliked and anti-strategy mechanics of EU4 (clicking a button to lower war exhaustion at the cost of mana) and made an entire game with said mechanics. There's very little strategy or fun here. It's a game of waiting to press buttons over and over. Definitely the last time I'm preordering a PDX game.

Probably the best platformer I've played. Beautiful artstyle, great music, almost perfect controls, and a Disney/Pixar-like story.

The game is somewhat difficult once you've progressed a bit, but nothing too hard that I get frustrated (this is coming from someone that sucks and rages at platformers normally). All in all, I totally recommend it.

This is one of the best games I've purchased for $15.
So far I've played around 40 hours, and am continuing to play. I'm going to run through what I personally think are the most important areas of the game, and give my thoughts on them in a bit of a short manner, to keep this readable and not overly long, so here we go.

Graphics:
The graphical style of this game is similar in a lot of ways to Terraria for obvious reasons, but the the game certainly benefits from this. Starbound's graphical style is surprisingly good, and this is coming from someone who typically doesn't play 2D sidescrolling types of games.

Sound:
Next up is the sound of the game. The sound effects themselves are decent for this type of game, but not amazing either. Not much to say here. Don't expect voice acting either. The soundtrack however is quite interesting. It varies from mildly annoying and irritating to quite wonderous and dramatic, like you are in a Star Trek film or something.

Gameplay:
This is of course the most important part of the game, and what is going to keep you coming back. The combat in my opinion is far superior to Terraria, although some would disagree with me. It feels very reponsive compared to Terraria, and has some skill required. There's a TON of weapons in the game, and all of them feel different in some way, which is really surprising to be honest.

When it comes to the other areas of the game, it really depends on what you want from the game. There's a lot of little things to do, that you may or may not enjoy, like fishing (added in 1.1), farming, or even fossil collecting. The main focuses of the game are exploring and building though. Since each planet in the game is procedurally generated, there's always *technically* something new to see, but this does unfortunately bring me to my first complaint. And that is the procedural generation.

Being someone who purchased the game after the official release, I can't personally compare the current generation system to the previous one, but I have heard that it was toned down and compensated with story elements, such as side quests.

The problem though is that these generated side quests aren't interesting at all, and the lack of complex procedural generation means that this game suffers from one of the same problems that No Man's Sky suffers from, which is that every planet just feels the same.

There's never really any interesting terrain or locations that come from the procedural generation, which really hurts the exploration aspect of the game. There are also dungeons that randomly spawn on these planets, but they suffer from the same issues.

Story:
Another negative I must mention is the story. The actual missions and boss fights are enjoyable, as they all require different methods to beat, but unfortunately the story has some common "RPG" story issues. Firstly, it gets to the point where all of the bosses are ridiculously easy to the point where worrying about their attack patterns is pointless, and this is because you can easily get armor and weapons that kick complete ass by the mid-game. This could potentially be fixed by scaling the difficulty of the bosses as your stats increase, but I feel like it wouldn't be the best solution.

Lastly, the story is sort of disappointing. If you expect a satisfying, tension filled story, then you will definetely disappointed. Luckly in my case, I wasn't expecting too much story wise.

Conclusion:
This game succeeds in it's sandbox elements rather than it's story elements, which is why I find the issues with the sandbox elements to be such a big deal. If they improve the procedural generation of the planets, and add more variety in terms of biomes, dungeons, and quests, then I feel like this game could go from being good, to great.

The recent update 1.1 has given me hope that they will continue to support the game. In the end, for $15 do I think that this game is worth it?
Absolutely. If you want dozens of hours of sandbox fun, then you'll love the game.

If you are expecting more, however, then you will either have to check out the massive modding scene, or be disappointed.

I've got nothing clever to say. I just needed to give this game a positive review.

Is it the Fallout game that everyone hoped for? Probably not, but that doesn't mean that this isn't a great game on it's own. Yes, you may not get thousands of hours of entertainment out of this game, but the hundreds of hours you can get still makes the game worth it in my opinion.
