Like Grand Theft Auto you start out as a small time thug trying to work your way up in organized crime. Wait, that's not right, you're a ♥♥♥♥♥♥' baller! You're head of the world’s greatest street gang/media conglomerate/ass tasting energy maker. That is, until another gang knocks you down to nothing and like Grand Theft Auto you start out as a small time thug trying to work your way up in organized crime.

Rather than try to out grit the GTA franchise, Saint's Row goes for humor. It is a ridiculous satire of other video games, corporate culture, politics and pop culture. If high brow or subtle humor isn't your thing, there are plenty of ♥♥♥♥ and fart jokes, too. The dialog and cuts scenes are hilarious, and change slightly depending on which voice you pick for your character. I’ve played the game up to the “What I got” sing along four times just to hear what the different characters say.

While the game doesn’t take the story or characters seriously, it does take the game play seriously. The controls are responsive and intuitive. It’s also one of the few games I’ve played that let you switch between gamepad and keyboard and mouse on the fly without problems. The challenges and mini games are fun and there is enough variety to keep it from becoming monotonous. The top level perks are game breaking, but it’s not like you’re forced to buy them (as if you could pass up 0% damage from bullets.) My favorite part is the unarmed power attacks, each one is some form of nut shot or ♥♥♥♥ punch.

In conclusion, I can’t say it’s the best (or funniest) game ever, but nothing else comes to mind.
