Still highly recommend.

This is probably the weakest FO game in terms of writing, but everything else is done so much better. The crafting is not as tedious as it was in FNV nor is it limited, it has been expanded on tremendously. Mods for armor and weapons are plentiful and the new system for it is a welcome change in the right direction. The settlement building is wonky, but I like the vision and hope to see improvements on the system and hopefully a step towards free build vs the snap-in/grid style they've done so far.

The writing is abysmal in this game and it makes the RPG aspect very dull. That being said everything is done so well on every other aspect that this version of FO does make it fun to explore and find new gear. Had the Obsidian style writing from FNV been introduced to FO4, it would've been the best FO game overall. FO4 has really modernized the franchise to bring in new players and I think that's why the gameplay is fantastic but the writing was left to the wayside. Hopefully BGS rights their wrongs with FO5. FO: London (fan made total conversion mod) shows what could've been if BGS had focused a little more on the writing for this game.

I still think overall FO4 is the best game in the franchise as of yet due to the myriad of improvements and new features that came with the game. Mods are available to basically help close the gap for BGS dropping the ball on writing making it a much better experience.
