A grand strategy game in which you can easily change the course of the known history. Beat the Ottomans as Byzantium, "re-colonize" Europe as Incas, or even conquer the whole world as Ryukyu. All of that is possible here.
The gameplay is very complex, so the beginners might find it a bit difficult to play, but there's a lot of good tutorials available, so it should not be a problem. A lot of nations to choose from allows huge replayability and thousands hours of fun.
Unfortunately there are minor things that require fixing (mostly UI and AI related), but the dev team patches the game frequently.
One drawback is a DLC policy, as for newer patches and playing nations outside of Europe you really need to have certain DLCs to enjoy your game. But still playing European powers is satisfying without any add-ons.

All in all, Europa Universalis IV is a game definitely worth checking out.
