As a fan of the original Helldivers finding out 2 was switching to a more traditional 3rd person perspective made me skeptical at how well it would still work.

Needless to say it is ended up working far better then I think anyone expected. This ended up becoming way more fun and addicting then the 1st game for multitude of reasons. It has an exceptional gameplay loop in gameplay along but has also been strengthened by the rate of major additions/updates over the last few months.

As far as "live service" elements go this has some of the most player friendly micro-transactions in recent time. Letting you purchase all "battle passes" at anytime without them ever becoming unavailable and also easily obtainable by simply playing the game. Progression is completely tied to in game medals you get from doing missions and they have no way to progress by just spending money like so many "battle passes" do.

The consistent updates and communication with the community have made this a beloved game and that is for a good reason. Now that the PSN requirement has been removed this is truly a must play for fans of co-op focused 3rd person shooters.
