Too many bugs. So many I couldn't get past the first page of the tutorial! I read the reviews and saw the bug reports, but I thought maybe it's not that bad. WRONG! It's a real shame, because I really do want to play a good modern political simulation. REFUNDED!

I've bought several AGEOD games and never really learned to play properly. This time would be different. I decided to give WoN an entire evening and really learn it. First surprise, no tutorial (just videos). No problem. I decided to fuddle my way through a turn. I clicked on icons, dragged and dropped my way through the first turn of the full campaign. When I was satisfied I pushed next turn.... Crash 2 Desktop.

REFUND! So I checked the forums. Time for a new engine, AGEOD. Stop using old code that has always been buggy!

How about finishing the game before selling DLC?

I don't like it. I thought I was buying a game of strategic adventure with decisions impacting politics, but I found this to be more of a twitch-based game of rapid mouse clicks or controller A clicks. I didn't want a Game of Thrones action game. The tags call it an adventure but I haven't gotten past the first dodge and run fights.

Really drew me in. A breath of fresh air after Beyond Earth and Starships!

Magnificent game! I actually dreamt about breaching an alien scout craft at night... it was an actual nightmare. That's how intense the game can be. The graphics are nothing like the cinematic quality of the XCOM remake, but that's fine, you don't lose anything in immersion because the missions are so much harder.

I'm definitely glad I signed up with the Xenonauts!

Great fun with responsive developers. I think this game can be really great with a little tweaking.

If you're looking for a grognard simulator, look elsewhere. The combat is abstracted and there are some missing tactical functions, like formations and scouting. But if you can look past that this game promises fun campaigns, historical battles and a sandbox mode, where you can learn which tactics work best.

This game is very good and may be one of the best ever, once it receives the rest of its beta polish. More "experienced" gameers may remember a game called "Fields of Glory," in which you played the role of Napoleon through the Waterloo Campaign. Those who don't may remember "Sid Meier's Gettysburg." Ultimate General: Gettysburg combines many of the things that made both of those oldies fantastic wargames for people like me, who don't really like desktop-style wargames. The stress builds during the realtime play, whether or not you pause the action. That map is one of the most beautiful and original strategy game maps I've seen since Civ V. All for an incredibly low price!

The game does still need polish. charges seem ineffectual, the units move too quickly, expecially in rough terrain. I think cover needs tuning, and most importantly, You should be able to kill a general who puts himself in harms way, just as several generals and more than 20 regimental commanders were killed in the actual battle.

But these are small concerns that I'm betting the dev will iron out. BUY THIS GAME!!!

I liked it at first, but I felt the combat did not work. I didn't like building ships and not being really able to control them in battle. On the other hand, the graphics are gorgeous. I know most people don't care much about graphics in a strategy game, but for me, clean, futuristic graphics increase my immersion in sci-fi themed games.

I've got to say I would pass if offered the chance to buy again. The combat really broke it for me.
