Discovering the game interface and the health/water/food mechanics is part of the game.
Everything is there for a reason. Killing rats or bats for food? hilarious.
It's like a vitaminated Hyper Light Drifter but with a dramatic and tension art /music twist.
Seems like the game, on every death, learns the lack of stuff I'm missing, and it balances the items generation accordingly.
The checkpoint system is not obvious thought.
A "mouse wheel" user zoom would be nice. Seems the system has some "intelligent" autozoom, but it's not enough.
