While the game has a charming aesthetic and a interesting base building component, the complete lack of in-game hints as to how to grow your base correctly, or how to use different ventilation or plumbing mechanics is disappointing. You constantly have to open wikis and videos to understand how exactly the mechanisms work.

This is modern Commandos; if you liked that series, you'll like this one.

I'll also add the devs seem to be unwilling to address already existing issues and just want to pump out more content. And sadly, they seem to be pumping out very little new content at a very slow pace.

The game requires way too much grinding and the crafting system is poor, not allowing you to craft solutions to issues the game throws at you. It's a punishing game but not so on purpose, but instead by poor gameplay design and developers not fixing extremely common complaints that affect gameplay very regularily: for example, weapons can't be aimed upwards towards flying creatures or downwards towards creatures on a slope; the cart handles terribly, gets stuck constantly and can't be flipped back on its wheels if it tips over without 1-5 minutes of fussing around. Stealth system is broken, and unclear. The developers kinda gave up on tutorials and explaining new game mechanics after the second boss. In fact, you pretty much need to consult the game's wiki page to know what's going on. Finally, exploration is not fun enough to account for how much time you're supposed to be blindly wondering around (i.e., gotta use https://valheim-map.world to keep it sane)
