I've never written a review for a game in my entire life, but I've decided that it's time.

Dota 2 is without a doubt, one of the greatest games of all time. I've played nearly every MOBA but I'm going to give a few reasons why I think Dota 2 is not just the best MOBA, but one of the best multiplayer games in the world. I've played on and off since about 2016, right before 7.00 was released, but played heavily in 2019-2021, and recently came back to the game in early 2023. Dota has a remarkable ability to keep the players engaged. The difficulty curve and learning to overcome it, the massive and diverse hero pool that you're given access to day one, the pure joy of building just the right set of items and killing all 5 enemy players, taking objectives with your team (in addition to the standard MOBA towers, Dota 2 also has Roshan who drops an item that gives a player reincarnation and Valve recently added the "Tormentors" that each team has access to at minute 20:00 which is a very new addition), the massively addictive sound, "*cha-ching*", of killing a creep and getting gold...

There's just so many wonderful things about this game that can't be listed.

Dota 2 is a VERY difficult game to learn (at least for me, but I think it's pretty common knowledge at this point) and can have a SUPER toxic community, but these are fairly ubiquitous in most competitive games nowadays anyway. It's not a very competitive game if everyone can be a master in a week. The hard work of learning and paying attention pays off over a long period of time and you can feel yourself improving after every game. Especially when you start to make friends in the game; I've learned nearly everything I know from meeting a random in a game and having a good time and asking if I can party up with them. Most people who play now have thousands of hours in this game (I'm almost at 1,400 at the time of this review which is actually considered pretty low for Dota standards) because each individual game is 30 minutes minimum, an average of about 40 minutes I'd say. So make sure you have time to play before you jump into a game, because abandoning a match penalizes you pretty harshly, especially in ranked games.

Dota 2 is a beautiful game and the frequent content updates keep the game feeling fresh (some can be hit or miss of course) and to top it all off:

THE GAME IS FREE!
(until you spend all your money on cosmetics because those definitely make you a better player)
