I was really into the first Payday. Judging from these hours you can tell I was ALSO into Payday 2 for a spell. I think sometime around when they introduced paid cosmetics that alter your stats my friend group dropped off this title. I can't endorse those middling and almost "pay to win" models. Sure, you can grind out competitively meta items and weapons, you can make a build that compares to the skill ceiling without spending a dime. It's the grind that makes that all the worse, as I can't help but indict anyone that would throw money at the problem instead of alleviating the long slog of a trip to the top.

But that's just my take. Don't act dumb, make your own decisions for this one. Maybe an easy sale pick up?

Devolver Digital once again wedding it's fantastic soundtracks to high-octane, break-neck and thrilling gameplay. I hope you like Cyberpunk dystopias, 'cause high-tech low-life is captured quite well in this game's setting and if you don't like the thrilling air-waves from polish musician Zamilska I don't think we can be friends. In fact I think... "We were never friends."

Naval combat doesn't have to be a dead-genre, but games like this one sure do contribute to a rich legacy of titles that miss the mark. I can't help but think your money would be better spent on other naval games that set out to emulate the mechanics of Black Wake and even surpass it. Purchasing this game is like racing to a stop sign, only the stop sign is a dead community and an eclectic few delusion nurturing try hards. Skip this one.

One of the last times that Warner Bros published a title and the Developers pulled through in delivering something tonally and mechanically appropriate for a movie video game. Put the time in on this one both on PS4 and a bit on PC. If you wish to ride shiny eternal and chrome look no further road-warrior. This title right here gets it. The high octane car combat feels rewarding and the visceral melee combat feels great. It's a shame that WB saw fit to try and stifle creativity with subsequent titles and their "patents" but this game will keep the voices at bay in the black matter of your brain.

All this to say that if you liked Fury Road, Thunder Dome, Road Warrior or any of the Mad Max films, this game is for you.

Ouch. Big ouch. Growing up I was a huge fan of the R.A Salvatore spine of the wheel novelas. I grew up rolling dice in 2E, 3E and 3.5E dungeons and dragons. I played in a Forgotten Realms campaign for years of my adolescence. You'd think I'd be the target audience for such a game. It just doesn't resonate with me. Plays fast and loose with the lore, which would be fine in the name of good fun but it even falls short there. Mechanically not impressive, graphically middling. The drought of good Forgotten Realms games continues.

One of the first times that EA tried to normalize a pay-to-progress system that cheapens the whole experience for me. The intent was to make each grind so unreasonable that you either invest an unreasonable amount of time for a full-time worker OR take the pay to progress out. That sort of drive and avarice minded whale hunting can kick rocks. Looking at Battlefield 2042 now frames the earlier titles as being a sort of "All downhill from here" case and I can't help but think it started here with 4. Skip this one.

A hollow "meh" from me. Tried to get into it with friends but was daunted that the cost of the game wasn't the full price of admission. I hate feeling fleeced for cash. Seems this game likes to tip power scaling the new release killers towards the broken side of the metric. I doubt their sincerity with their so called "mistakes" of balancing and I feel like it's more of a desperate attempt to drive up sales in the early release window.

One of my favorite game modes on Nintendo 64's Perfect Dark was the anti-co-op mode. So you can imagine my glee when I saw that Arkane was intending to make a revival of the co-op(tional) game mode. Unfortunately this title misses that mark. The novelty of existing in a time-loop wains, I understand that it's meant to be a diegetic feeling. I just wish there was more too it than sneaking the same paths and orchestrating the same deaths. Dishonored 1 had more nuance to how each target could be taken down, so where was that variety in this title? Grinding the essence you need to field the same four colour variations of the same four guns feels stale. There isn't even an unarmed combat feature and if you don't think Golden-eye slappers was a fun side-gig with friends I can't help you.

Might be good cheeky spy vs. spy fun with a friend, but as advertised it's not the vibrant assassin eat assassin world that they suggested it might be. I'm loathsome to wait 30+minutes for a laggy 1v1 with someone stepping outside the EULA to give themselves infinite health and energy. Maybe pick up on sale?

This right here is the par-excellence of Zombie survival sim sandboxing. Enter a counter-factual 90's dressed Kentucky. You get to pick what you were doing the day of the outbreak (Read, pick your starting occupation) and from word go you are thrust into an environment of your choosing. Part of what I like so much about this game is that in it's current build it's modular. You can adjust the zombie apocalypse to your own thresholds and further share it with friends. Just ambitious enough that I look forward to future content for the game. Emphatic endorsement from me.
