God, I've been wanting something just cozy enough to relax me for so long. Stuff like Stardew Valley, Harvest Moon, Animal Crossing (while all great) are all a little TOO cozy for me. Stuff like Celeste or Pizza Tower (while similarly great) are a little TOO stressful. This is absolutely perfect. It's a little challenging so I can stay engaged and actually WANT to spend my precious little time on it, but it's relaxing and stress-free enough to just plug away at for hours on end.

PLUS!!! The pixel art is literally STUNNING. The Bancho cutscenes are so well animated I can't believe it's hand drawn. What an absolute masterpiece, I adore this game.

Ok, below review is old. They released an update TEN DAYS after I posted this that was all about balancing. I was going to play for a while before updating, but on my first run post-update it already showed me that this game is amazing now.

Seriously, they had some balancing problems at launch, fixed it within 2 weeks, now the game is SO fun. I like it better than Balatro or Slay the Spire at the moment (though I still play those lol) but it is night-and-day fixed. I think they still need to add some better descriptions and make some card functions more explicit in their description, but now it's a great game with some small problems instead of a broken game than would be amazing if they fixed it.

HUGE credit to the dev team! You folks put out a game and then IMMEDIATELY after launch started fixing what was broken. Great job! I hope you put out more content and fixes and such, because this is a really fun and pretty game. Amazing job!

***Yes I recommend, but not right now.

It's VERY unpolished. The biggest thing that shows a lack of playtesting is that the main menu is on the "Jack's Tavern" logo (or whichever room you're playing in.) So basically, you click out of frustration or to tryn skip the really slow damage counter, and it opens the menu.

Besides that, it also DOESN'T have an immediate "try again" option from start. It's a roguelike, right? Like Slay the Spire? So...why do I have to alt-f4 to restart? Come on.

The description on the cards is also very lacking. Like "Kingmaker" for example, it says it changes a played card to a King, it's VERY unclear that it ALSO counts as a King. So say I have a 10 and a 2 on the board and I play Kingmaker, I select the 2 and it changes it to a King. My score is 20, right? No. It's 30. Because the Kingmaker *counts as a King too* apparently, so you bust. If you check the card, it *does* have a "10" on it on closer inspection, but that's the only inkling you're going to get screwed.

I followed this game for a while because it looked fun, and it IS fun, but whether this becomes a cult classic that makes Yogscast an indie legend or this game is forgotten about in a month is up to the devs to make some fairly easy UI and textual changes.

I will change my review as SOON as I see some positive changes, you will see a giant banner at the top saying it's perfect now I promise. I'm going to keep playing this game as well, because it is sincerely *fun*, but it needs a significant update before it's worth the money I bought it for. All-in-all, I'm excited to see if they improve this game, because it will be one of my favorites, but right now you should wait until the next major update.

A literal masterwork of sound design and pixel art. It's like if those Madness rip-off flash games I grew up on grew up and went to art school.

This is a terrible game. No just a terrible FALLOUT game, but terrible on it's own merits. It took all of the weak points of 3 and made them weaker, and completely threw out the many, many strengths of New Vegas. I want to play through for the story and lore, as I'm a fan of the series, but this game is antagonistic to the very concept of engagement.

I can't roleplay whatsoever, I can't think of a character and make choices AS that character, it feels like a crappy lootbox game but without even the justification of making me spend more money. This game takes the heart and soul from Fallout, tosses it into a "Gore Bag", and sticks the skin on a Mr. Gutsy to roam endlessly through the wastes for no reason besides having to justify its own existence. If you haven't bought it yet, don't.

The art and soundtrack is TOP NOTCH. Just completely perfect, the vibes are just perfect for the gameplay. Wacky, loud, cartoony in a way that I'd watch this if it were a series. The soundtrack slaps, the game could honestly just be a music video honestly and it'd be fantastic. I saw part of a Let's Play of this and turned it off because I wanted to hear it and see it without the commentary lol.

Gameplay so far? I'm only 2 levels in so far, but its FAST. It has a lot of mechanics, so the instructions are a little wordy, but when you start pulling off fast runs it pays off in a very satisfying way. I'm having a blast with it, and I can tell this is going to be one of those games where you go back to a level to get a better score.

So yeah, audio and visuals are absolutely 10/10, I've never played a game I wanted to buy merch for more lmao. I'm gonna wait until they have the cups back in stock though XD

Gameplay seems PERFECT for speedruns, but forgiving enough for casual players to have no problems with. Keeping your speed in runs with a well-timed reversal was a genius move for this exact purpose. If you're racing your own clock, you can avoid that mechanic to save time BUT if you're just trying to play the game, you can use this to figure out what to do next without completely killing your momentum (or losing that feeling of speed and urgency.) I don't usually like timed missions myself, but this game pulls it off in a way that's challenging without crossing the boundary into JUST annoying. And bonus points, it's justified in the game, as opposed to just being "Sorry, you didn't get all 99 MacGuffins in time, so you lose :/"

Amazing game, I'm JUST getting into it and haven't gotten to the story aspect, but this game does 2 things that (as a fan of platformers) most platformers need to take a HUGE lesson from.

1) It teaches you how to play it without TELLING you how to play it.

and 2) seamlessly merges the puzzle aspect with the platforming aspect.

Regarding 1, I've never played a game that so perfectly taught me how to play. I've found myself literally saying out-loud "oooh! That last level was to TEACH me this mechanic!" It's perfect. Physics transfer on moving blocks, meaning you can use the momentum of a swinging block to jump higher. This also works sideways. Does the game tell me that? No. It put me in a room with a block and a jump I knew for sure I couldn't make until I thought "Hm, maybe this will work." If this wasn't a specific pet-peeve I have (thanks to Hbomberguy pointing out "play conditioning"), I wouldn't have noticed how perfectly this works. There's no text boxes telling you "Hey, hold onto this with Z and press Up while on a block to blah blah blah" nope, Maddy didn't tell[/] me how to play, she taught[/] me, and the fluidity with which she did that should be taught in game dev courses from now on.

Regarding 2), platformers are puzzle games. They require A. Figuring out the inputs that will solve the current level and B. Having the reflexes necessary to execute this puzzle. I've found myself in a section thinking to myself exactly where on the screen I'll have to execute commands in order to implement the solution I theorized. I've had to hypothesize, attempt, refine my hypothesis, and attempt again in a way that is SO satisfying when you finally get it right. I can usually brute force platform games without thinking too much, this game forces me to think about each level in such a captivating way.

The gameplay is an absolute masterclass, this game should be required "reading" for aspiring devs imo. I stopped playing for tonight because my fingers actually hurt from smashing my keys, but I can't wait to play more.

The visuals? Superb. The art style is phenomenal, and it's just gorgeous to look at.

The sound effects and soundtrack? Beautiful. Haunting. I love it, and I might actually buy this soundtrack (I don't listen to video game soundtracks typically)

I didn't look into this game for years. Honestly, I knew it as a trans meme and thought it was going to be a heavy-handed LGBT+ narrative-driven story with huge chunks of text. I don't really mind that, being a B myself, but it's not really my thing. This isn't what I thought it was.

I also heard it was absurdly difficult, which usually in platformers, means they just make every jump require frame perfect input in a way that ends up feeling annoying as opposed to challenging. I've run into some hard spots that require precision and test me greatly, but everything has felt completely possible. I'm sure it'll get harder, but I'm confident that the developer isn't going to throw anything at me that she hasn't prepared me for. Every new level makes me feel like I've learned something and I can handle the next challenge. Even if it progresses to the level of those nightmare Super Mario Maker levels in difficulty, it will be after I've been conditioned to handle the spikes. It feels like the game is cheering me on, saying "you can do it, you made it through the last one, keep climbing!" I'm excited to see what else it'll throw at me.

***THIS IS A REMASTER****

I requested a refund as I thought this was new content, I didn't read closely enough it seems. That's my fault and doesn't reflect the game itself.

I think it's fantastic that they're remastering these games and releasing them, it was so disappointing that TellTale went under and I really hope this studio continues to do what they're doing. If there's any new content, I'll be buying it ASAP. If you DON'T own the Sam and Max games, buy this, they're such amazing games and you'll have a blast.

This is a fantastic game, I'm having more fun with it than any of the AAA games since Psychonauts 2. Absolutely worth paying full price for. I will say there are some glitches that the devs are patching, nothing gamebreaking that I've encountered, and I hope they'll add more voices and other character creation options. But all in all, 10/10 game, intensely fun, it's taken over my life.

Incredibly fun, absolutely genius non-game. I did NOT expect it to get as emotional as it did, though, oh lord. Soundtrack is killer too.

I will say the Free2Play section got old quick and the hints aren't quite what they should be. They're either too obvious or absolutely not helpful. Instead of stuff like "You'll need to do something to fix this" or "Use the widget to fix the box by dragging it to the other side." maybe have a hint like "Is there something on the screen you didn't see before?" or "If only this box were fixed, maybe something here can help"

All in all though, 10/10

Great game, just wish there were more people playing it multiplayer. They really need to lower the price so we can get more people playing multiplayer, I think $40 for a short campaign is a bit much, and not a lot of folks are paying for their multiplayer games in these CSGO/Apex days.
