Short first impressions:
Straightforward and enjoyable. The game is a wonderful and unique mix of games, and the mix works great !

A Solid coop game since you can lean into the "holy trinity" of tank, DPS and healer and it succeeds in making you feel like you are playing an old school MMORPG with your friends. Plenty of dungeons to crawl, bosses to defeat and epic loot to be found.

My recommendation is based on playing with friends, so I can't speak on the solo experience.

Do note that the early access release has some obvious technical issues (performance drops to 20 fps in places) while others with similar rigs don't have any issues at all. It's not unplayable but it definitely makes it less enjoyable when those slowdowns happen. I will follow the game and update this review if things improve down the road.

Several enjoyable aspects. Gunplay being one of them, most guns have satisfying sounds. Seems to be a pretty chill "long term" grind game. Bunch of loot to be looted/crafted and if you enjoy chasing random stats on equipment, this game delivers that. So far the characters I have tested have all been fun to use, no one felt underwhelming.

Mission design is pretty basic and repetitive but the combat does counter this. Feels good to destroy several enemies at once.

Overall, pretty dope free game. Yes, the game has a bunch of MTX. Will this affect your enjoyment? Hard to say, people are very different on this topic. Try it if you have time and enjoy "looter shooters".

Actual 10/10. It has everything you would want from a solid FPS and then some!

Play on Admiral difficulty or no balls.

Absolutely an instant classic!

Expands upon the first game in many ways while still being true to its identity. A very enjoyable mix of old school and modern game design. The emergent gameplay and world design makes exploration thrilling and there's plenty gameplay related incentives as well. The combat is fun and the feedback in combat is great (hitting weak points causes staggering, enemies can get tossed around or pinned down and executed). There's a decent amount of different vocations and party compositions to try out, and there's incentives for doing so beyond just changing up the gameplay.

At the time of review however, I am facing a fair amount of performance issues related to the ridiculous amount of NPCs moving around (or often just stacked on top of each other). This has not affected my enjoyment of the game but this NEEDS improvement and people sensitive to games not performing well deserve a heads up.

Looked forward to this game for years and it exceeded my expectations anyways. Just an overall FUN action game with a solid progression system. Excels in making you and your team feel powerful.

Has a good amount of content as well. Story mode is decently lengthy and has some incredible set pieces/events but then you also have the coop quests (which can be played solo if you want). You can also replay everything on harder difficulties which changes up a few things.

There's also a bunch of variation in the characters and how you customize their skills and sigils. It's nothing super complicated or extensive but it's definitely enough to be engaging and fun. For instance you can lean more into buffs, focus on dealing damage, bringing additional healing or debuffing the enemy. There's plenty of these types of decisions in this game for every character.

I haven't experienced any technical issues so I have been able to just enjoy the game. YMMV as usual.

Easy recommend to people who enjoy action games with RPG elements.

I returned, and that's because the developers decided to actually lean into the strengths of a dungeon crawler lootfest and do away with the reward structure of typical live service games. This has greatly increased the enjoyment of the game. Practically, this means that when you decide to go dungeon crawling you might stumble upon new weapons, armor or even new character unlocks. The game's new direction is a massive improvement in gameplay but also the technical state of the game. It's decently good stuff now and I hope they can keep improving it going forward.

The game does still have some lackluster approach in how they "generate" dungeons and encounters. It's still very much predictable and you can easily memorize all the patterns (layout, encounters, chest locations etc). This does harm the replayability of the various dungeons but the game does offer a decent chunk of content overall, so it's not the biggest issue.

The armor system is neat since you can see the visual progression as well as providing gameplay related stats. However, the few armor sets that I've seen so far don't have anything interesting beyond just bumping your stats higher. I was expecting the armor sets to lean into certain skills or play styles but instead it's just "chase the bigger number".

I can also report that a SSD is not really required (after a few hours of testing). Is it a smoother experience on an SSD? Yes, of course. The game does have some minor stuttering left, but nothing compared to how it used to be.

Overall, I'm more positive than negative to the direction of the game. Therefore, I decided to change my review. If anything changes I will update the review again.

(Warning: OLD review starts below)
Game has some decent gameplay but very little content that's fun to engage with over a long period of time. I did like that the dungeons had various traps and events but they all became predictable after a few runs. This was also true with enemy placement and encounters, they weren't "random" enough if that makes sense.

I also thought the progression was pretty damn poor so running the same dungeons over and over felt even worse. There were no exciting moments, nothing surprising could happen because the grind needs to be X hours long. That's how it feels to play.

I had a bunch of performance issues such as stuttering, rubber-banding, problems logging in and frequent crashes. Not a good start but I assume these will be remedied with future updates and that it varies based on hardware. Speaking of hardware..

The developers decided to "pull a sneaky" on players by suddenly changing hardware requirements several months after release. This game now REQUIRES a SSD to run at an acceptable level, and while this is not the biggest ask, it's still feels like a weird band-aid fix on a problem. This really should've been a requirement all along. I wonder how many people purchased this game but can't transfer/install the game on a SSD and now they are just screwed. Basically, their performance issues will never be fixed. The fix is "buy better/more hardware". Reminds me of another game.. hmm

I was on the fence for a bit but I can't recommend this game and will not be returning.

EDIT: Pet auto loot is now free (so is the pet item selling feature, a small time saver). So yeah, this game got even better and more F2P friendly (less stress overall!)

The latest update is great, especially the new game mode that removes the currency collecting (think PoE) and replaces it with massive amounts of loot instead. This "Origin" game mode is a lot of fun and I hope it stays in the game.

This game actually has a lot of fun game systems (like the rune system for instance) and it's simple to understand but still offers enough variety that it can be replayed a bunch. So all in all, this game is worth checking out if you have the time and want to slaughter millions of monsters for that sweet sweet loot.

HOWEVER, there's still a pretty big issue in the game and it's the pet auto loot feature which is essentially a subscription. It's kinda difficult to justify buying 20$ skins when the game also has QoL features behind paywalls that are so incredibly useful and powerful that you feel that you need to have it enabled. It doesn't make the game NOT worth playing but holy hell is it an unnecessary obstacle.

Many words for one simple message: Make the pet auto looting free for all players! Personally I think people would rather spend that money on cool cosmetics or more stash space or maybe that's just me.

A fantastic FPS to have in your library. The Rogue-lite elements has you unlocking new powers with every run but you will need to improve your own skills to really dominate.

Provides a very fun difficulty curve so it remains engaging for many runs as well.

Easy recommend.

A really strong entry point for new players as well as veterans. Street Fighter 6 has an overwhelming amount of features at first but thanks to tutorials and the new World Tour mode, it's really easy to get into.

Fantastic netcode and quick rematches makes the online Vs modes really shine. Unfortunately there's a weird disconnect/communication error code popping up making some matches just end. This error code might be due to unstable connections so don't expect this to be an issue with every opponent. It's about the only negative thing I can say about the online play. As always with online play, have a stable connection and match with other stable connections. Buttery smooth experience when actually playing though.

Easy recommendation for everyone.

Extra bonus points for including old arcade games to play!
