Unfortunately my review has to come change again.

Sony is apparently still shutting down access for Helldivers in regions where PSN is not available namely the baltic regions and even if that leak is untrue, the delistet Countries still have no access to Helldivers 2.

Sony did try to sabotage this game, with a sloppy money grab. They tried to make it so you can only play it with an Playstation Account, which is not possible to create for a lot of regions.
Since it ended in a PR desaster, they did rescind this horrible decision, but it did not end yet.

They stated to not require PSN but they are still removing more countries from beeing able to play Helldivers, instead of reversing the changes as they stated.
To me this seems like a purposeful attack on a smaller but succesful and creative dev team.

As well as showing the middle finger to anyone that stood against this exclusive and money grabbing behavior.
I can't recommend this game or anything further from Sony. I am deeply disappointed as I never would have thought for Sony to be this unprincipled and have no regard for their customers.

We a as a community stood together, against such undemocratic and exclusive behavior.
Never forget, that managed democracy has prevailed and we stand tall as a community.
The undemocratic and offensive behavior of Sony shall not go unnoticed. Spread the word.

Helldivers is a great game. While it may not be a game for everyone, if you dig a kinda janky but very lovingly crafted shooter, the chances are high for you to like at least something about this game. Once you got even one friend to play with you, this game starts to reallly shine like gold.

Let me give it to you straight. It's got a high learning curve.

On lower difficulties it seems like a brainless horde shooter.
On higher difficulties that changes quickly and it's about knowing how to deal with different Situations.

The mental aspect of this game, can be quite taxing. Staying calm and acting accordingly to the situation is essential. You have to think ahead, make tactical decisions, as well as plan out your approach to a certain degree.
As such it is important to communicate with your team in some form. Voice-Chat is reccomendable but not neccessary, the in-game options such as emotes are fine. Even if you don't get an answer, random teammates tend to listen.

The gameplay is very technical and can be unforgiving. At the same time it feels very clean and purposeful.
- It's not an easy game by default and it reminds me of Dark Souls and Monster Hunter in a way
- There are few, but powerful tools and options to choose from.
- You are able to optimize your layout to an extend I've never seen before and it did feel very rewarding to do just that. It completely changed how I played the game.

What makes the game hard:
Difficulty is a weird thing. For this game it doesn't change the enemies, instead it changes how many and which enemys spawn.
The behaviour and strength of the enemy doesn't change. You have to just know how to deal with the different kind of enemies accordingly.
Most animations in the game, such as healing or reloading, can be interrupted and will then, not complete the action.
For the most part, this is a great mechanic and it is also essential, because it allows you to dodge at almost anytime. It can also be so very frustrating at the same time. In the heat of battle while queuing an action, often times you interrupt or get interrupted and can't finish your taken action. Especially beginners struggle with this mechanic. I myself have grievances with it, but at the same time it allows for very graceful saves in perilous situations.
Once you learn the mechanics and get them down, it does feel very clean and not random anymore.
There is also a good amount of jank in the game, it can make it hard at times. But it usually is pretty funny, once something completely unexpected happens. Just laugh it off.

At the end. In my opinion it all boiles down to learning the game. The types of enemy, the mechanics and how to use them. Once you got the needed knowledge, it feels absolutely amazing and clean to apply it.
