I had previously downvoted the game, but after giving it another fair shot, I realized that the game is set up so you are supposed to die at certain points, and while it will look like you had to re-load your checkpoint, things in the game will have changed after. Not the best design choice to fake you into thinking you got a game over imo, but overall the game isn't too hurt by it, so long as you don't quit upon your death, thinking you lost progress.

It's hard to say who I would recommend this game to and who I wouldn't. Personally I really enjoyed it overall, despite the fact that it's a detective game where very little of the investigation is actually tied into the game-play. However, I found the story very intriguing, it had my style of comedy which resulted in many laughs, and the characters were very endearing. It doesn't seem that everyone agrees, though from the other reviews, so the best advice I can give is to maybe pick it up on sale, go as quickly as you can for an hour and a half, and decide if you feel invested enough to finish the game, or if you'd rather just refund and pass.

Personally I think it's a 9/10 game with a fantastic payoff for going through every part of the branching story possiblities, but it's clearly dependent on a lot of personal taste.

Also Aiba is 10/10 waifu material.

I got 100% of the trophies in 8.5 hours, so for 15$ I would say it's fun enough to be worth it. I wish it were a little longer, but I've paid 15$ for movie tickets that lasted under 3 hours, so I'll take that 8.5 hours of entertainment for sure. Not a lot of replayability imo once you've finished it, so I'd consider waiting for a sale if you're not okay with paying more than 15$ for around 8 hours of content.

Also definitely make sure you do that (as well) list after the initial list for added challenge and play time or you'll really feel like you didn't get your money's worth unless you got this later on at a super cheap price. The credit roll is where the real game begins.

I don't really understand the negative reviews. It improves on the first game in pretty much every way. There is more color to the world, rather than mostly white. The parkour mechanics feel even more fluid and accurate, with exception of the rare bug that might get you stuck on the wrong piece of geometry once or twice. The combat is massively improved, allowing you to brutally mow through enemies when you need to fight, and adding options to allow you to escape unharmed if you're trying not to.The only downsides I can find are: The slightly cliche story which essentially throws out the original game's from canon. You may find yourself re-traversing the same areas quite a few times if you just follow your runner vision, even though there are usually several available routes to take.If you unlock your abilities in a bad order, you could end up having a bad time. Start with the movement tree and grab everything there, as combat is very forgiving early on.There is no way to 100% the game without looking up some collectibles in a guide, or putting an absurd amount of time into learning the entire city like the back of your hand.Other than that, i really enjoyed the game, I hope for a sequel eventually, and I kind of wish more games would use a parkour system like this in their open world.

Very short game if you don't mess up, but still a lot of fun. If you have the problem I did with the tutorial for wall jumping failing over and over, start the jump with a parallel wall run, not a perpendicular wall run. Doing the rest of the training after that was key to enjoying the game. Pick up Catalyst when you're done, it blows this one away.

Disclaimer: Just in case you have the same favorite songs as me: Wings of Piano and Reverse Parallel Universe are sadly not in the game. : (
However, the expanded story and the puzzles they added are 100% worth picking this up for. It also feels really nice playing the songs on keyboard as well. Just don't go in expecting to unlock your favorite song from the original version like me and end up disappointed at the end of the game. You'll still have a good time if you're a fan of rhythm and puzzle games.

I started a playthrough and couldn't put it down until 10 hours later I got an ending. The way things turned out on my first try wasn't exactly what I had hoped for, but dang, was it a good story overall. I fully plan to play back through again, and possibly even more times, because the branches you can see as you go through the game that hint at the number of different ways things could have gone are massive.

The story also makes you think a lot. There are a lot of parallels to the real world, and I think the way this game makes you think about compassion, morality, and other human emotions is something everyone should experience.

While the game still isn't 100% polished, it's incredibly fun. I'm going to throw this out to start: I'm not usually a fan of survival games. As someone with bad A.D.D., having to remember what tasks I'm currently trying to accomplish just to not die at any given time makes it incredibly difficult to play survival games with intricate crafting systems and lots of resources to manage. That being said, Die Young may not appeal to the hardcore survival game player. You have only two things to worry about: Thirst, and healing yourself, and neither are too difficult to keep taken care of. The rest of the crafting is for healing items and upgrades to make your life easier.

So survival aspect being simple, what makes the game fun? It's essentially a challenging 3d platformer that clearly has a bit of inspiration from games such as Dark Souls with the level design. You find ways to climb stuff, you open shortcuts to make it easy to get back to where you were at if you fall, and you rest at campfires to save. You also have the ability to craft a 1 use portable campfire for very cheap if you are about to try for a jump you're not sure you can make in one go. This is just the main mechanic of the game that you'll start to get more and more used to and better at. (hint, look down as you take running jumps off of ledges to see when your feet hit the edge)

Now why did it stay fun and interesting to me after 8 hours of exploring and jumping? Because 8 hours in, the game was still introducing new mechanics I hadn't seen. And they did so seemlessly and without throwing in tutorials that broke up the gameplay. Each new mechanic was hinted at with the right level design that just kinda shouts "I bet I can do X here." Fantastic game design there imo.

Finally, the story while a little cliched at this point, still manages to put its own unique feel and spin on the "trapped on an island survival" thing. There is lore to be discovered about what is going on, why you're there, and why this girl has any shot at surviving this situation to be discovered and it's paced wonderfully to make it feel like a reward for making progress and exploring thoroughly.

Anyways, I've ranted a lot, so I'll just throw out a few cons I noticed that I don't think are by any means enough to really break the experience. The devs are also still updating and polishing the game, so these may be fixed in the future.
-Your hands clip through certain climbing surfaces at times
-The music tends to phase in and out repeatedly in certain areas as if the triggers for it are not entirely set up correctly just yet
-sometimes the ragdoll for killed enemies has some hilarious physics ie. launching rats across rooms, not really a con imo, kinda adds to the fun
-Some of the jumps require exact placement and timing to make, especially for optional side paths, and I could see these getting frustrating for gamers who aren't willing to replay parts several times to overcome the challenge
-It's not always entirely obvious where to go, and depending on your instinct and possibly luck, you could end up backtracking very large portions of the island to find some essential areas you may have missed
-related to the above, the map as far as i can tell, only displays in single segments at a time, making it impossible to look back at everywhere you've been without being in that quadrant of the island. As a result, again you may end up having to backtrack a decent amount to recheck for important things you missed

Overall, despite some flaws, this is one of my favorite indie gems I've picked up in a while. I'm glued to it and I can't wait to see if it becomes even better in the future with updates.

Very challenging, addictive, and just the right amount of comedy. If the number one thing you want out of a game is fun, Mordhau delivers.
x -> 1 to flourish for duel servers so you don't have to go in nodding at people to accept duels like me and some other guys I've seen. Lol.

In case all of the other overwhelmingly positive reviews weren't enough, here's another. This game is amazing! I'd recommend it to pretty much anyone.
