I didn't think it was funny. Silly? Sure. Funny? No. Take that away and this game has nothing going for it.

There are a few main things to talk about with this game:

1) The story: Interesting at first but there are some things that are set up, made to seem important, and just never pay off. The ending was unsatisfying and made the whole thing seem pointless. This was especially regrettable because of the lack of depth in the gameplay, and the fact that I actually liked the main character. Don't drape your game in an air of dark mystery if the ending just reveals how little it all mattered anyways.

2) The atmosphere: Initially very cool, but thereafter... not. The shock/horror stuff never really landed for me and the clumsy UI made it difficult to tell how many resources I had available, making it hard to make informed decisions. Also, exploring the cabin bloats your deck with garbage, so your reward for revealing secrets is a less powerful deck.

3) The gameplay: This was the meat of the game. It lacked depth, and every challenge seemed to be solvable with the exact same approach. I don't feel like I was offered many choices either in playing cards or navigating the map, and once you progressed a small amount in the story, the card game itself was completely trivial (easy, simple, rote) and just became a chore to complete so you could see the story end, which made the poorly-written ending even worse.

If you like creepy stuff, you'll enjoy it for a while - at least, long enough to lose your ability to ask for a refund.

Fun game with hours of replayability. Lots of mods with additional characters as well, but a lot of the variability comes from the ascension levels. The higher difficulty not only changes the numbers involved, but how you have to tailor your deck to defeat new challenges.
