I have been playing the total war games since the very start. One of the things that was so great about these games was how in depth it went. Family tree's, economy, battles, and much more. Rome TW 2 seems like it's was dumbed down for the younger crowd so it wasnt too hard for them to get into. Simply put there is no challenge what so ever when playing the game. Even after all the patches that have come out which I wont deny have made a lot of good changes, but just nothing significant. When you play you will notice that you only need to capture roughly four settlements and then the game is a piece of cake from there. The enemy doesnt upgrade its units and it ususally focuses on only a few types of start of the game units. It is very rare that a faction will declare war on you and if by some act of god they do then they will never attack you. Also when in battle the computer still does the same charge head on into you and die strategy. We were promised a intelligent enemy AI in battle, but we didnt get that at all. The game is just not as in depth or challenging as the previous titles and it's a shame. Save your money and hopefully the company has learned a lesson and on their next game they bring out they will go back to their old roots. The only thing that can save this game in my opinion would be modders.
