"Excellence is not an art, it's pure habit. We are what we repeatedly do."
I wouldn't even call this comment a review, but rather a truly personal comment, because I felt this game was such a personal one. The story isn't anything complicated, but as you progress various backstories, background elements and the plot will be revealed in bits and pieces, and it's up to the player to connect them. But know that not all the questions you ask yourself will be answered. I think it's because the game has a fairly allegorical meaning, or at least that's how I understood it.
Certainly the strong point of this game lies in its combat system which is not particularly complex, but trust me that in its simplicity it is quite challenging. You can never underestimate a jailer, or you will have a short life. The secret lies in learning the opponent's patterns and their attack sequences that change with each phase, or stack, of an enemy's life. You will alternate distance combat sessions alternating shooting and melee combat with pure shooting or melee sessions. And obviously the final phase is always a bullet hell where you can only hope to survive. You will die, and with each new boss you will probably die again, except for the seventh boss which I found definitely subdued compared to the others.
Furi will show you that the only thing that will save you is your skill, nothing else.
On a technical/graphic level I can't say much, it is mostly inspired by the synthwave/retrowave culture, and it is precisely from here that I discovered this game.
