I've heard a lot of things about this game in comparison to World. Truth be told, World was kind of the game that changed my life. I met the love of my life on world. That being said, base World by itself was really nothing special. Looking back on several playthroughs I can recall endless frustration and cutscenes that lasted for several minutes. This game is in a very similar state as the one World was in when it first released, and by that I mean to say, it's not done yet.

I have mixed feelings about selling a game that isn't finished, but this has been a long-observed tactic from Capcom to keep their games alive. As someone who obsesses over these games I would probably finish the game within a couple weeks anyway, and honestly, I would prefer to wait a little bit for new monsters to come out. That is to say, I think the comparison between finished World and its DLC, Iceborne, and a MH game that just came out a week and a half ago is a little unfair. Whether we like it or not, this is how Capcom evolves this series of games.

In terms of content, I love Wilds and I would recommend it to any Monster Hunter lover. However, it's not perfect, and it never will be. It feels like the longer we wait for a game the more we expect it to be everything we were anticipating. It kind of disappointed me that some people didn't give the game an honest chance and immediately rushed to leave a bad review, but it's happened before. If you were a fan back then, Iceborne (which is widely regarded to be some of the best MH content standing currently) was also mixed in reviews.

I am REALLY looking forward to what this entry will have to offer us in terms of stronger monsters past the ones seen in Wilds currently, but I have to remember to be patient. Genius fights like Alatreon or Fatalis don't come out overnight, and are especially difficult to pull off when a game is in its early stages of life.

Let her grow, people! This is only phase one. It's $70 for the journey. Except for the DLC.
