possibly my favourite chill game out there!

took me around 135-136 hours of gametime to get all 16 achievements and all 468 combinations of fish/quality, which honestly? that's pretty good for just £4.29
i can't really fault the game itself, it's a cozy fishing game with a cute artstyle. fishing feels kind of like opening loot boxes but they're full of fish and are (or at least can be) a challenge to get. i say can be because thankfully this game has an autoclicker built in to the settings which is an absolute lifesaver for anyone who is prone to carpal tunnel or the likes. i would highly recommend doing the first maybe 10 hours manually, just to get the experience of it (i think i went around 35 hours without it on but it did cause some nerve issues for me as i'm very prone to RSI, which is entirely my own fault!) but once you start reaching the bigger numbers, do yourself a favour and turn it on!! it's not cheating, it's literally in the game and there to prevent damage!!
i know there has been issues with public lobbies, at least in the past, but that is sadly the nature of online games. thankfully, you can limit your lobbies to private and even offline to avoid these things. unless you don't mind taking the risk of the things that can come with online games, i would recommend just playing with friends or solo. but if you do brave public lobbies, i would recommend turning griefing off in your settings (there is a boxing glove item you can purchase which lets you punch people, which can be very funny but only in moderation!)
the social side can be really fun though, with features such as chalk drawings, instruments to play, emotes to be silly with and even facial expressions with certain emoticons in chat! you can even meow/bark/growl/hiss/mrrp and give your friends a big ol' smoochie! there is also a mail system which you can opt out of if you'd prefer.
not to mention, the cosmetics are super cute and fun. titles are goofy, which is perfect to match the flavour text on the fish when you catch them.

so all in all, a fishing clicker game with general cosmetics (including funny titles), social stuff and even.. scratch cards? hell yeah! i really do hope this game gets updates, even if only minor additions to cosmetics for example. i'll be grateful for anything but even if that never happens, i'd recommend the game because it honestly is fun, addictive and very affordable!

Before anyone whines, I would like to say that firstly, I would only recommend this if you don't mind feeling a little bit alone in the universe. However, you can stream it, share screenshots, etc. with friends and laugh over the silly species you come across together. You don't NEED to be right next to eachother in-game to enjoy it!

Pros (according to me):
- Very fun, even though it does get a little repetitive, no planet is the exact same, and I love that!
- Very atmospheric. I personally find myself getting emotional at this game, simply because of this.
- Different species are often really funny looking, so you're guaranteed a good laugh.
- No loading screens!!!! I absolutely LOVE this as I can't stand loading screens (cough cough rockstar)
- Some really cool starships, of which you can buy and claim as your own.

Cons:
- It does get quite lonesome at times, but I personally don't mind that, although it seems a lot of people do.
- A bit lacking in variation of resources, etc. however, it's brand new and you can't expect a miracle from such a small team.
- It's actually quite frustrating when space pirates attack you and you're just there like "mate, I just wanna go explore"
- Kinda really pricey, but it has just been released so it's to be expected. Plus, it's a small team, so you have to give them credits for doing such a good job.

What I would love to see in future:
- What I would most like is for Hello Games to add more resources, variations of drops, buildings, etc.
- As everyone is saying, Multiplayer would be SO great. I'll continue to play with or without it, as it is fun, however it would be great.
- Most importantly, I don't want them to let this game flop. PLEASE continue working on it, it has SO much potential, I promise.

Overall, I would highly recommend it if you don't mind feeling a bit alone. It may be pricey, but as I said previously, it was made by such a small team, so you have to give them some respect for it. Either way, a price drop would also be really nice in future.

no but really this game is damn frustrating and it will probably make you break things. the worst part is that it's also addictive. have fun.

edit as of 2018: still one of my favourite games to this day. you're missing out if you haven't experienced it.
