It's captivating, exhilarating, and hard as hell. You will quickly understand why you bear the title "Helldiver" after a mission at any difficulty past 4 (of 9).

I was hooked from the start by the gameplay alone. Its action-packed second-to-second gunfighting is tight, chaotic, and beyond fun.

But since its explosive launch, the game has suffered with some balancing patches that remove the fun from some of the most enjoyable tools of destruction to prevent a meta from emerging. This PvE game is at its best when it focuses on allowing players to feel truly incredible after tense moments of narrowly escaping the clutches of 'tyrannical' alien bugs and robots.

Bugs plague this otherwise brilliant game, and not just the fascist kind. With every patch, new game-breaking bugs cause crashes, malfunctions, and take away from the fun of the game. Known issues persist for weeks on end that too chip away at the enjoyability of the game.

Regular releases of new persistent battle pass style content keep me playing, but if the developers don't change the way they approach balancing, focus on fixing some major known bugs, and put more thought into these monthly warbonds, I can't say I'll continue playing.

Overall, it is a brilliant shooter experience that creates memorable moments of action, cooperative fun, counter-cooperative accidents, and cinematic experiences with an incredible sense of community and generally good-intentioned developers driving its success. I hope the best for the future of Helldivers II, and highly recommend any shooter fans give it a shot.
