Cool art, cool music. Normal mode is way too hard.

There's a lot of cruelty in this game, but I felt like it was directed at me, the player in gameplay. The platforming, knockback, and parry windows are extremely punishing. Enemies were placed just so they could knock you out of the air and into some spike pit or poison floor, and oops you're dead.

The dash was also SUPER annoying when you're trying to make a long jump from a small platform, but the dashing pushes you past the edge and you don't get a recovery (double) jump until much later.

The best of 90s Squaresoft RPGs reimagined with modern quality of life improvements and nigh-perfect pacing.

This game rules. Fantastic music, art, and battle systems. Can't wait to see what the developer does next.

It took a few hours to grasp how they want you to play it, and even longer to master, but this is a phenomenal game.

If you're used to Dark Souls, the biggest advice I can give you is to trust your block with normal attacks. I did not at first and hit a frustrating wall. Trust your block.

Really wanted a double-jump assist. The platforming became too esoteric once I hit the main city.

This game is such a beautiful, polished amalgam of the best platformers mixed with the exploration of Symphony of the Night that I can't believe I didn't play until now.
  • Absolutely incredible artwork. This game has the most art and it's all wonderful.
  • The movement feels so good. It's fluid, responsive. It never feels like the game's fault when you fail a platforming section. Mightily impressive.
  • Exploring the world becomes joyously quick.
  • The story is simple, but very well told.

Great characterization, great story-telling. Combat is good, not great. But really you're coming to this game for the world they've created, and it is an amazing one.

This game plays really well for an open world game, but this is not a Metal Gear game. Cassette tapes are a bore, and any sign of Kojima-level insanity is incredibly scant.

It's a good game, but as the last Kojima Metal Gear it's a huge let down.

This is a classic game of "easy to play, difficult to master." In teamwork, the last point is readily apparent.

Getting aerial goals feels so good.
