I don’t believe there was any conflict between the Spaniards philosophy and the Mexica philosophy. They were both fierce components and dominated over the conquests. I believe the religious beliefs did shape their first interaction. The Mexica worshipped the war god Huitzilopochtli. The Europeans were Catholic, their requerimiento required that all they conquered must accept Spanish rule and Christian preaching or risk enslavement and death.
