You gotta subscribe to sell stuff on the auction house and to be able to trade with players. The curve for earning things in-game VS one of their many subscriptions and monetization options is pretty massive. You mine as well play an actual pay2play MMO of better quality if you wanna make better use of your cash.

And the item store (because a subscription isn't enough anymore nowadays) is the worst I've ever seen. It only sells a small select few items which change each day and none of it is trade-able. So the Long Beast Ears needed to make the PSO2 version of a Miqo'te may require a wait of several months/years till it returns to be buy-able again within a 24 hour window.

NGS Update: I couldn't rebind keys the way I wanted to in PSO2 and NGS sadly still didn't fix this problem. UI and Controls are still some of the worst... actually no they're literally the worst of any MMO I've ever played with too many things I simply can't change; like fixing range abilities to always fire in camera direction. Fresh Finds is dead but now it's just RNG loot boxes still and still can't sell or trade without subbing/pseudo RMTing~ contributing to the mass inflation a few item-flippers cause. NGS has like 10 minutes of content on release and you've seen it all.

This game also really hates male characters a lot; rarely releasing male versions of most things. Even the current mission pass/"battle pass" right now consist of only female outfits. Almost all of the animations you can unlock; like different idle motions, are designed for female characters and are super feminine and girly.
