amazingly fun game. if youve never played a fromsoft rpg do yourself a favor and abandon everything you've heard about them. don't go into this expecting it to be crushingly hard. just play it like a regular video game and use every tool at your disposal. make throwing items to pull enemies one at a time, throw explosives at enemies, dual wield giant ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hammers: do whatever you need to or want to in order to win. you'll have a million times more fun than if you go into this with some kind of ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up expectation of ball torture or whatever it is reddit told you this game was about.

literally all of the voice acting in this game annoyed me. the VAs probably did a good job of it, but I'll never be able to objectively judge that because the decision to make it so whenever an NPC gets dialogue they just interject one of their three canned quips that aren't the slightest bit related to what the characters are saying completely soured me on literally everything the characters had to say. Completely baffled by the decision when literally silence (aka no effort from the dev team) is an obviously better alternative to having a waif cosplaying as a sci-fi linebacker growl "I'M MAD!" 2/3s of the time literally any dialogue from her shows up on screen.

Also they're half-fixing the coop but like coop progression has been a solved problem for a decade so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ it up out the gate leaves me with little faith that this game will actually get the support it needs. Maybe I'll be wrong and a year from now it rules. we'll see!

Decently fun to play but drags a bit in the end and the story is super telegraphed and frankly dumb.

Excellent game overall. Without spoiling anything, all I will say is go in expecting things not to be as they seem. The developer of this game has previously done things such as hide the true endings of his game inside easter eggs in other games, so that's the kind of mind behind Inscryption. I had a blast the whole way through, though. Lots of different strategies to try out.

Excellent compact game. It has a clear visual style and message, and the gameplay is incredibly tight and fun. Also the soundtrack is a seriously good album in its own right. Strongly recommend playing.

Early Access Review
This is an excellent continuation on the work from Subnautica. The story is not quite as good as it could be, but the developers have acknowledged this and are working on it. The biomes are incredibly well designed and allow for incredibly fun exploration. The areas are designed to allow an incredible amount of vehicle-less diving now, which makes for some incredibly exciting scenarios where you have clearly gone too deep. Looking forward to the full release!

A great sci-fi shooter and so far the best freemium game I have ever played. Blind boxes don't seem to be the way you advance, but rather clear grinding paths take you to new gear. Even playing one mission is enough to get at least some progress toward getting the next weapon or warframe that you want to unlock. If you want a game that you can drop into and out of and not have any of that time feel wasted by unlucky rolls on the RNG, this is the game for you.

3D underwater construction and survival is a set of constraints that few developers ever even consider working with. Luckily for people with that incredibly specific itch (like me), Subnautica is currently an amazing survival game. Through its development, Subnautica has gotten to be a tighter and more well-polished experience. It remains my gold standard for technology trees in survival games - the tools you get open up new areas of the game, rather than just letting you dig for building materials faster.

The only downside I would say is that the food system is fairly shallow. Unlike games like Don't Starve where the food system is more interactive, food and water in Subnautica quickly become a solved problem and turn into a chore rather than a player constraint early in play. As this is an in-development game, that may change. Until then they have included a mode where the player does not have to interact with that system at all.

Overall this game is so good I can't quite explain why it's so good. If you have ever wanted to build a deep sea volcano base, but you aren't a James Bond villain, this is the game for you.

edit: I am updating my review now that the title is out of early access. They have completely hit it out of the park here. The only amendment to my review I'll make is regarding the survival mechanics. I've played around with the food system a bit more and they no longer concern me as much. Maybe it just grew on me, but having a routine when I get back to base has become a bit endearing.
