As someone who doesn't normally consume any sort of horror media, the aesthetic and environment of this game strikes the perfect balance by being fairly unsettling but fantastical and unrealistic enough to not be actually disturbing. It's also genuinely easy to forget you're playing a horror game when you're in a squad of 4 until you somehow end up being the last one alive trying to make it out of a pitch black labyrinth of a building, armed with nothing but the crappiest flashlight money can buy.
